Unusual D&D Situation Thread
Hi, I just thought it might be interesting to start a thread about what might happen in some of the more unusual situations in D&D. I thought this forum would be the most appropriate one.
An unusual situation I thought of a one point is what would happen if you fed the tarrasque an active decanter of endless water and then used sovereign glue to seal its... orifices shut? Its a tricky question I know. |
I think the real question is: How would you go about feeding a tarrasque an active decanter of endless water and then sealing its orifices shut with sovereign glue?
What would happen, though, is that it would take a lot of damage, eventually spring a leak somewhere, and the decanter would work it's way out of that leak. Then the tarrasque would come back to life and be very upset. |
The paladin in my party has been quoted as saying this before: "Right. Angry Dragon Goddess. We go now."

I'm in an interesting situation at the moment with a group I joined recently. After raiding a wizard's tower on a week I was out of town, they found a bunch of magic items and they gave my monk a ring (+2 unarmed dmg). Anywho, the genius theif of the group (i mean this in a literal sense, 18 int at lvl 2) is expecting my Lawful Neutral monk (lvl 2) to pay HIM for it, since he did most of the theiving, or so I'm told. Of course he's threating physical harm, stealing the ring, etc etc consequences if I fail to comply.
This is a problem since.... 1) I don't want to pay for it 2) It was stolen in the first place 3) As far as I knew, it was a gift 4) My alignment doesn't press me into doing so 5) I could probably take him The only con of getting on his bad side at the moment is that he has another ring that I'd like, gives large bonuses to all of those fun perception skills and makes you twitchy/paranoid. My char liked it so much when he tried it on, it had to be wrestled off by two party members. He's hinting at offering this as incentive for my payments on the other ring. I'm just curious to see what you people would do. |
My friend used to play a paladin and since they have that ole healin touch every time we ran into trouble he would say..
"I'm going outside now, going to take off all my armor and clothes, lie down in the snow, and right before I die...I'm going to touch myself." Ah, comedya. Weird situations? Putting that ole portable hole into the bag of holding! |
A elven warrior, a orc tribe leader and a stray dog all vs. a pikachu.
Don't ask how. It just happened. |
The person who plays the mage in our group has a... stupid... uh... face.
One good example is the classic walk into a seedy bar full of chaotic evil mercinaries and order fine wine story. Or the time he enter a room full of dead bodies with a Mind Flayer in it. The dumb part is when he tapped the mindflayer on the shoulder to ask it what had happened. The mind flayer then rendered the all but the mage unconsious with a psy blast and the other members of the group proceded to strangle him. |
HMm, on the ring issue I'd personally would refuse the thief simply because he's attempting to use extortion. But I'm like that.
I did have one game I played in as a fighter where we came in at fairly high level (14th I think it was). In my first combat round I said to everyone, "Give me 11d20!" There was a bit of a pause before someone asked if those were for my attacks. They were. You have to love thri-kreen. |

If he persists, just wait until you get into combat next, then demand payment every time you punch someone. If you can, try in particular to punch on enemies who are threatening/beating on the rogue in question. That should shut him up. |
Well, fortunately the situation partially worked itself out the nonviolent way ('fortunately' and 'nonviolent' in the same sentence? that doesn't sound like me at all). Found some loot after knocking off some guards that were looking after a shipment of ale we were to steal. The group's cleric took a pretty wicked greatsword that none of us could/wanted to use and since I bartered it off for a good price (my cha is the highest in the group) he took the gold and paid the thief for both my ring and his (he was in same situation). A pleasant suprise, but extortion still continues as I have now have the tweak ring, as it has been dubbed (for the excessive twitchiness/paranoia/perception it creates). I'll just see how long it takes before he tries to pull something with it.
Perhaps I can 'save his life' and he'd see that as payment. If not there's the whole idea suggested that "without me you would have had to kill X many more enemies on your own." Which would be a bit more difficult since he's done a little better than I in battle to this point. |
