Study blues
Ever been studing, and just know you're not remembering any of it? Well, I've been having that feeling all day, and I have a test tomorrow! Ack! Any suggestions?
|
Well, what is the test in? What subject and on what? And what grade/year are you?
|
I'm a Junior in high school, its Astronomy. And its a mid-term exam. Basically, its the class I'm doing the worst in, and one of the most important tests in that class. I'm screwed :(
'Course, I don't have to worry about blanking out, I never am nervous during the test, just before and after. If I could get the stuff in there, I would do fine. It just won't go in. |
Astronomy...uh, I wouldn't get too worked up unless they're going to throw some heavy physics shit at you.
I have never felt that I wont remember something when I study. In fact, it's a personal point of pride that I can memorize 50 definitions in 5 minutes and retain them for up to 6 hours. Give me another 5 minutes and I can memorize the spellings too. |
I would sugest liberal breaks. Studying too much at a stretch will screw you over just as badly as not studying. 5 minutes every hour, or 15 minutes every two hours. Whatever feels better for you.
|
Uk. I'm ussaully pretty good at remembering stuff. In fact, I normally don't study at all. Just keep notes for notebooks, and in case a classmate wants to borrow them. But, for some reason, this Astronomy class is killing me. My grade is low mainly b/c of alot of homework, causing me to not turn some in, but my tests have saved me. Up until the last one that is.
So, I've been going over the material from that test. And it won't sink in. I don't know. It just won't. Argh, I'm taking a break right now (In case you're wondering), 'cause if I didn't, I swear me brain would explode. EDIT: Liberal Breaks huh? I should try that. going at it for hours at a time dosen't seem to work. |
Well if you have no guilt, you could always scibble little notes on your hand to help you remember.
|
Well, what I usually do when I feel that way is to study just before the test happens, and I mean just before. About 5-10 minutes before the test, and I'm good to go.
|
I r in college, where the teachers give only one test an no homework the entire year.
That sounds great until you realize that the test is 90% of your grade. |
Through some psychological mumbo jumbo, it's widely believed among psychologists that taking a break after long periods of study can help you memorize. Sleeping helps too; something about the subconscious working on it while you sleep. Good luck on your test, by the way.
