Halo PC Port is ass
Who agrees with me?
|
I do. That is one good example of a FPS that should be played with a damn controller, not m/k.
|
Ive never played halo for the pc but from what ive heard its really hard to use so i hafta ask are the special parts of it like the online and extra lvls worth it.
|
True. It's not cause of the mouse/keyboard issue though (ALL FPS's are better with a mouse/keyboard). No, it's simply cause the port was sloppy. The patches are supposed to make it much more stable though, at least.

The only reason I don't like the PC Halo port:
The X-Box version had a co-op mode. |
OK I don't know what your all talking about. Halo PC rocks. You get more weapons, levels, veichles, etc. And its not that hard, especially for those of us who aren't good with two joysticks.

The last time I played Halo PC online, they had changed a map!!! Im sorry, but I dont think the multiplayer maps need changes. Also, the new guns arent very good. Almost all of the people ive played on Halo PC arent very good.
Back on the topic of changed maps...They added more teleporters into Sidewinder. You could teleport in and out of your base. Made the map alot easier, unless you were on defense. I could care less about m/k over controller...I just dont think they did Halo justice. Instead they crapped it up. |
i dunno i found it kinda slow ..i didn't like it one bit
however it seemed to me more suited to the xbox than anything else |
Kefka, don't be ignorant. While SOME FPS are better with m/k (half-life, which is a better FPS (though not due to m/k use) springs to mind), that isn't a general rule. Halo sucked with m/k. Did you even play the original? The game was designed to be played with a controller!
And Introduction, there are more important things than 'more stuff' for a game. Like balance. Which the new stuff to Halo PC totally ruined. FPS, especially online ones, are made or broken on balance, it's the most important element! Look at all the most popular FPS - Half-life, Halo, Counterstrike, Doom. NONE (as in, not a single one) really added ANYTHING at all new to the genre. What did Halo add? 2 guns a time? Adding new stuff doesn't make a game better. And Halo PC doesn't add any new vehicles. |
I think most of you are just used to thecontroller for playing the 2-4 years or whatever Halo ihas been on the XBOX. Hell, if suddenly I could only play DOA on the XBOX and I had been playing it on the PS2 for a year, I would feel like the game was weird.....oh wait, that DID happen....and the controls were weird for a while.
I personally had problems playin Halo. Even all the way into level 4 I was STILL not able to use the controller well. Same problem happened with Time Splitters 2. I just CAN'T get use to having to use two joysticks atthe same time. My mind can't work that way. And yes, I tried. I played all of Halo and half of Time Splitters....I've tried. I even had problems occasionally remembering which mode was on which part of the C-Stick in Metroid Prime....there's no way I'm going to be able to on-the-fly turn my body one direction and AT THE SAME TIME point a gun with my OTHER thumb...... I think I could probably use a Mouse and Keyboard just fine. I'm going with the miffed port idea. |
