Unappreciated Games

Kinda like in the one topic for the good animes never talked about, here's one for video games. (sorry if somebody already made this topic and I overlooked it) Just talk about some good games that don't get as much publicity as other games. (maybe you'll find someone that's played one of the games too. ^^ )

One for me would probably be Tales of Destiny. I LOVED that game. I only got to rent it a few times, and i've been looking to buy it, but I can NEVER find it. >_< It's one of my favorite RPGs. It has great characters and lotsa humor.

Another one would be PlaneScape: Torment. That one is fun! I've never played a game quite like it. I mean, how many games can you choose to become evil and sell your own party members into slavery, and even kill your own party members? I need to replay that game sometime...

my favorite rpg of all time is lunar 2. i never hear anyone talk about that.

The Way of the Samurai. I loved that game. And Deus Ex: The Conspiracy. Deus Ex: Invisible War seems to be more popular, but most haven't played the first one (as far as my knowledge goes). I also don't think Haven got as much attention as it should have.

More recently, the game Beyond Good and Evil. Many people that have shopped at my store(s) (Gamestop and EB Games) have asked me if I know of a good 3D action game like Zelda for the X-box. I mention Beyond Good and Evil, they have no clue what I'm talking about.

I played that one recently. It's pretty good, but I like the first Lunar better.

Another one would be Star Ocean and Parasite Eve 1 and 2. (I know PE 1 and 2 are pretty popular, but I never see anyone talking about them. ^^ )

Tales of Destiny 2 is pretty good, but not as good as the first one.

Oh yeah! and EarthBound! That game ROCKS. ^^

Everyone who cares know about Lunar and Star Ocean...

Lunar 2 had the better battle system, but the crest thing was too much...Lunar 1 had a better story IMO...

I liked Paper Mario...god that game was fun...

Ooh yeah. Lufia 2. ^^ I think that's the first game i ever cried at the ending. (I'm very sensititive ^^ )

And "The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang" I never beat it, but it's pretty good.

My list of unappreciated games that I liked would be Earthbound (SNES), Way of the Samurai (PS2), and I think the name is Mischeif Makers (N64). Those are all great games that were underappreciated in my opinion, and that are some of my favorite and most memorable. I don't know if it they were underappreciated or not, but I neaver heard a lot about Suikoden 1 and 2 for PS (I learned about them from a friend of mine, and when I looked for them to buy them I only saw them for sale at Babbages at old game prices, even when the second was fairly new), and those are two of my favorite games of all time as well.

Yes! Thank you. I really like that game, a fairly good RPG, but it's just one of those games everyone's herd about but never played. FYI, they're going to port it to the GC in the summer I believe.

As for other games, Megaman Network Transmission is a pretty good game that no one has seemed to play. And the Battle Network games in general. I think most people are turned off becuase of the cutsey graphics and the fact you're controling a a fifth grader. When in reality all of the games are tough as nails, and anyone under 13 wouldn't last an hour, especially in the third one.

I would mention Earthbound, but that game has such a tremendously huge fanbase I don't think it's worth mentioning...

IHateMakingNames 12-06-2003 03:11 PM

Earthbound isn't unappreciated...

And Suikoden I and II are(even though I read about them a lot...) because they didn't make enough of them when they came out...
