http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=56931

this link in no way directs you to download the game and do not PM me telling you where you can get it because you cant *ahem

On a sidenote: This doesn't make me angry, could I possibly say this makes me feel good ? probably. The truth is i couldn't care less for this Over-hyped, Over-rated game. I just though you should know. No ones safe. Go play some real FPS's

Wetflame 10-18-2004 09:52 PM

I've seen it on FTP sites. For some reason, I don't like this. I didn't mind copying shit before, but now it's everything as soon as you can get it. Argh.

GatoFiero 10-18-2004 10:23 PM

This angers me greatly, but it will probably do little to actually hurt Halo 2's sales.

KefkaTaran 10-19-2004 12:23 AM

It's odd. I have a friend who loved the first Halo. And he downloads music and games like mad. And this happened and it was on the system he uses... but he said he wouldn't download it and that it "kind of pissed him off."

Does that seem odd to anyone else?

I mean seriously. Hell.

ChaosMage 10-19-2004 12:39 PM

It is wierd. I actually remember hearing something during Freshman band. A bunch of the kids were talking and they were saying: "Its ok to download. Just not Dave (Matthews) because he really needs our support." Pfft. What that really translates to is: Its ok to steal, just not from people/things we support, and I think thats what this is a case of.

darkt0aster 10-19-2004 01:33 PM

It's either you illegally download copyrighted materials w/o paying, or you don't. There's no grey area, and those that think there is really have a very illogical set of ethics. I don't care if my favorite game/musician has a working copy leaked onto the net... I'd probably go and get it, and if it's good enough for me to go out and buy, I will.

btw I heard the Halo 2 leak won't work on LIVE, so that's some incentive to get the real deal.

Last but not least, some quote goodies from pplz who have played

Quote:

Jumping is a lil bit higher.
Grenades aren't thrown as far.
Shields charge quicker.
SMG/Pistol or Pistol/Pistol = best dual wield.
Campaign rocks.
Commandeering is awesome (for instance, u can commandeer tanks, melee the person in it, or place a grenade inside the tank to explode it)
Flag runners are slow.
End of game stats are very informative.
Being an elite in the campaign u can go camo anytime, with a 15 sec cooldown.
Campaign rocks.
Pick up flag button is useful.
Sniper = n00bier.. dont have to lead, it basically has auto target to the head.
New levels are big, but have good graphics, and can make for very strategic games.
And the campaign rocks...

I don't really know how to explain it. All you have is a shield and after it is depleted you can survive a couple of hits. Once it recharges, you're back to full. So apparently you have no health...but then again you do. If someone hit's you with a sniper, you fully recharge you're shield, and get hit again with a sniper....you die. So the sniper kills in two no matter what. I think with everthing else though...you get you're entire 'mystical health' back. Only with the sniper do you take less damage after recharging. Could be a glitch...I don't know. The game is horrible. Totally noob oriented so I'm sure a lot of people will like it. I just don't see it being played competitively anymore. I don't know how you would become good at it...like the pros. I don't think one person can clutch it in the end. You can't kill anyone far away unless you have a sniper, because they just have to hide and they're full go again...especially with all the cover they provided. No open maps what-so-ever. By the way...the Battle rifle kills in 7 3-shot bursts to the head. A little fricking ridiculous. The supposed best gun in the game sucks when put up against an smg. Basically an SMG with anything dual wielded is the way to go, because it owns. Bungie got lucky with Halo 1.
Quote:

What happened to the Human Motorbike?
Where's the Warthog with a rocket launcher?
Why couldn't they just port some old levels?
They only kept a crappy version of Blood Gulch and a much better version of battle creek.
The Covenet weapons suck too, the needler is still pretty iffy and the Carbine is pretty stupid too. Dual Wielding weapons make most guns like the shotgun, Battle Rifle and Carbine lacking severely in fast battle damage.
Talking about the shotgun... Bungie said they wouldn't change it which is a lie. It reloads so fucking slow and it takes 4-5 shots to kill someone from the length of a damn warthog. The damage isn't that bad, but slowing down the reload sucks a lot. It doesn't even look like a shotgun anymore, it's more like a fat pistol then a shotgun and that thing that you did with your hands after reloading the shotgun in halo 1 is completely missing.
Out of all the changes that were made in halo 2, the biggest thing is how the entire game is completely oriented towards XBOX LIVE!!! All the levels are big with lots of cover. They all seem to be for large groups of people too.
Microsoft used Halo 1 to get people to buy the xbox.
Now Microsoft is using Halo 2 to get people to pay the monthly fee for Xbox Live.
It's still a good game, even great but it's missing some of the things in Halo 1 that everyone got used to.

I dislike you very greatly now.

Wetflame 10-19-2004 02:29 PM

I love Halo, even in it's shoddy PC port form.

It just doesn't seem right. I don't know. Maybe it's me having double standards, but I think it's something to do with the fact that the release was so built up, and then someone had to take it's legs out from udner it by releasing an inferior version a month earlier.

That just gets me. If someone can't afford the game, fine, but this is just... I don't know. I must admit I had Sonic Advance 3 before it came out, but was hardly as big a thing, and Sonic Team kind of have been pissign everyone off. Whereas Bungie haven't done anything really - the shoddy PC port wasn't there fault.

I just think we should support Games companies that do innovate, instead of the ones that release inferior sequels.

KefkaTaran 10-19-2004 04:25 PM

Inferior version? It's the completed game. What's inferior about it?

We need to look at it several ways:

1.) The game was bound to get onto the internet eventually anyways. Whether before or after release.

2.) The only reason that the time it got leaked would affect Bungie is if it got leaked before release it could lower sales.

3.) We know Halo 2 is still gonna sell tons. It's already reached, what, over a million sales in pre-orders alone? This is not an area Bungie has to worry.

If the leak had actually been an inferior or incomplete version (ala the Half-Life 2 Source leak last year), then I could see a reason for people, even people who download otherwise, to get made.

In this case: Bah.

Wetflame: I'd definitely say you have double standards as described by Chaosmage and Darktoaster.
