8-bit live action movie!
hello ladies and gentlemen. i'm planning on making a live action 8-bit theater movie. so i'll need actors for some parts. if you live in the iowa city area, preffereably a student at west, that would be marvelous. the comics i intend to cover with it are 104 to 141 i beleive.

Iowa? Is that in like Italy or something? I live in the US.

Live action? As in, "take a bunch of living people and film them," live action?
There's BOUND to be a bunch of copyright-infringments there. Besides, how would you distribute it to the public? Where would you find the funds to make it? It can't be done, to be blunt. To quote BM: "All I did was speed up the process so you wouldn't have time to get your hopes up." Sorry... It's an idea with potential, but I simply don't see it happening in a realm of possibility. And Iowa is in the USA. It's just southeast of South Dakota. |

Something on the right track was found, but not what was being seeked. Whaddaya mean funds? Haven't you heard of freebies? Or costume shops? Stuff ain't that expensive, unless one plans to spend a good million or so, in which case I deem them mad, but encourage nevertheless. Quote:
I don't see how it isn't possible. I mean, if there's any chance of this 8BLAM (hehe, blam) finding it's way upon the net with Brian Clevinger's permission of filming his comic`d material, then all the more w00t! :D |
yes, i intend to do it on the cheap, making the cotumes our selves, using pictures instead of ourselves when neceesary, like, the scene where black mage has just burninated the guest dungeon. it won't be animated, just really poorly done. also i was thinking of letting brian selll the thing at no exspense to himself. of course in that case i might need to a bit better of a job at it. Also, square can get angry at brian because he's using their sprites, but there characters are nothing like brians.
brian could technically sue me, but we've all concluded that square would be a bunch of jerks if they sued brian, wouldn't that make brian a jerk if he in turn, tried to sue me? also, copyright infringement is circumvented if you don't try and make a profit, or it's for education purposes. while this film making will be highly enjoyable, i may likely use it for school as a project at one point or another. also, blood ravyn, you make me sad. i wish to bop you with an inflated hammer. but tis not in my countrymens nature to inflict hate via force. instead i shall use my words. "you aren't very smart, are you?" |

Sorry, but I did. It's like you just revealed your evil master plans, like the evil guy from one of the James Bond movies, or that cat guy from down the road. Who likes cats. Because he's the cat guy. You do realise there's a very good chance Brian'll read that too, and reply with something like "Banned, fo` shizzle!", or something that elaborates on that, and why he wouldn't go and sell the filmed piece. Wouldn't it be easier to just film it, then upload it to Lulu.com for us, the humble forum folk, to see? |
I don't want brian to get in trouble though! if i made a movie it wouldn't be using anything square made, as such i don't think they'd have any grounds. and i while i'm using brians scripts, i cleared it with him a long while back. and i wouldn't being selling it for money or anything anyway. heck, i'd probably give it to him for distribution if i thought you folks would buy it and thus help brian pay living exspenses.

Just out of curiousity, how much filmmaking experience do you have? It's not a particularly easy process, even for relatively short, simple films. A film adaptation of the comics you mention--a rather large, complicated group--strikes me as nigh impossible, unless you have some rather impressive resources at your disposal.
