Welcome to the video games forum, this thread. Hope your stay is a good one.
|
Hmmm...My game. Well it hasn't progressed much, but I am working on it. I don't have anything to show you right now. I've made a fewa maps and come up with a few jokes nothing special. It is under way though.
|
*digs about* Hey, I knew I still had this! My old game I was working on! *blows off dust* Dang CBS lowered by brain-cell count so low I couldn't type anymore. If it wasn't for that... *has visions of grandeur*

Do you know a place where i could download rpg maker, 1 or 2?
|
Nobody here can tell you that. It's against the rules, because RPG Maker copies are illegal (all of 'em. The only legal ones are in Japanese and pretty damn expensive, considering...).
And they're called RPG Maker 95 (which sucks), RPG Maker 2000 (which doesn't) and RPG Maker 2003 (which rocks), not 1 and 2. Just thought you might like to know that in case you... uh... search for 'info' on them on google or something... =, |
I can give you RPGmaker2003 if you dont mind getting it. Anyway RPg2k is leagle I think something about having one translatioon. ANyway my question is about RPGmaker 2003 does anybody notice that the charecters are unbalanced compared to the monsters and each other?
|
A.) All translations of the PC RPG Maker are illegal. Playstation is legal. PC is not.
B.) The characters seem overpowered because you're supposed to BUILD the game. Balance is part of that process. |
I could link you to a wonderful site where from you could get RPGM2k3, but A) I don't want to be helping the illegal download of files and B) Don't want to risk the site getting into trouble, call me paranoid... Anyways when I start fooling around and making a game in RPGMaker, I always start completely from scratch. I don't use anything that the game comes with, except in the beginning I use the standard tilesets, until I get unlazy and build my own.
Anyhow, as for my RPGMaker needs, it really bothers me that for the exp curve you can't set it to a certain amount per level. I wanted the first few levels to be really easy, but then it picks up and gets really hard later on. It won't let me do this, so I'm probably going to have the really tough monsters give out about the same experience as the really weak monsters. Does anyone know a way around this? Last but not least, anyone out there making their own (Or ripping thier own) sheets? Chipsets, Characters etc? Most specifically I'm thinking battle charsets. I'm working on a few Rudora battle characters at the moment, just for fun. And the fact that the ones that come with RPGM2k3 suck. |
For those of you looking for RPGMaker, use google. It's really not hard to find.
For custom chipsets, I used to go to a site for them, but I'll be damned if I can remember it...and I have! Gaming World For EXP Curves, I thought you could manually set each one...hmmm. I'll look into it. |
Although I prefer 2003 to 2000 for various reasons, I hate battle character sets. One reason is that my very limited spriting skills makes it impossible for me to create my own; the second is that, while there are tons of charsets and chipsets available for download (if you know where to look) there are virtually no battle character sets.
What I do is delete the battle animation array and then move the characters' position to under the health box, though this may not be for everyone. The only real problem with this method is that skill animations have to be redone a little, and some monsters dont look right, since they are faceing the side of the screen instead of the front. |
One flaw with the 'same exp for tougher creatures' idea is that then you could level just as easily by thwacking bunnies as by fighting dragons. Just a thought.
