The MMORPG dilemma!

EVE online is great. You can download it for free, get a 14 day free trial and it's built from the engine upwards as online based (so little/no lag!).
However, 3 weeks of playing it straight and it begins to get thin. Has anyone any other suggestions of MMORPGs that can be downloaded free (I don't mind subsription fees), don't have HUGE bandwidth requirements and are pretty deep gameplay wise?
Thanks...

ps - And no, I already tried Second Life. =/

so, are we gonna have a thread like this every couple of weeks now? jeeze. (no offence meant Dark).

Check out City of Heroes, very straightforward concept thats like no other MMO. not much else to do in the game other than fight stuff, but the fighting is pretty entertaining.

EVE Online is a space MMORPG, right? In which case you might want to give Vendetta a shot, although I'm pretty sure you'll have to go through some sort of application process to get a beta account. I joined up back during the initial test phases, before the beta, when it was open to everyone, so I'm not quite sure what you'd have to do to get an account there now.

World of Warcraft open beta soon. Keep an eye out at www.worldofwarcraft.com

Special note: I'm gonna copy and paste this statement, then save it in a word document so I have it ready for the weekly MMORPG thread.

Sorry, I was unaware that this was a common thread... Uh, but anywhos, are any of these games downloadable? Because I'm too lazy to go buy anything from shops and stuff. And if so, where can I download them?
Oh yeah, and thanks!

The WoW beta will, of course, be downloadable. Warning: It's a HUGE download, at least 2 gigs if I remember right from the stress test. Still, it's free world of Warcraft for at least a month. why turn that down?

Dark Black 10-20-2004 03:06 PM

Because it's 2 gig. I don't even HAVE 2 gig free on my PC. =/ Thanks for the info though.

Is the WoW just open for anyone, or what? Cuz I might just do that if it is...

City of Heroes is downloadable? I bought mine from a store...and Planetside, too. I like driving.

If you want something downloadable I say try out Tibia, but if you want a good MMORPG you’ll have to go to a store and buy it. I recommend FFXI.
