RP Trading Post

Have you ever had an idea, but we're too swamped with other RPs you were in/running? Or maybe an idea that sounds cool, but you can't really think up a story, or ANYTHING past the signup?

Well now there's hope.If ya know, anybody reads this thread and responds...

Just post a little info for the possible RP, and see if anybody takes notice/interest. Maybe an up-and-comer will seize it as his/her chance to show everyone what he's capable of. Maybe a veteran will look at it as a new challenge. Whatever the reason, they'll declare they wanna try it out, and your little baby is that much closer to fruition. Its win-win. Plus, if it bombs, the RP GM could blame it on the idea maker, and the creator could blame it on the poor GMing, creating a new generation of grudges!

So, I guess I'll start us off.

RP IDEA: Basically its just this huge world, with something going wrong. Instead of picking characters like the Samurai or the Mage or whatever, the players would all be regular people who 'traded' with a mythical creature for special powers, like giving up sanity for power or sight for speed or the such. Then they'd all get together and solve all the worlds problems somehow I guess. I'd like to man this one, but I'm not good at predicting potential-godmoddiness, plus I suck at stories, plots in general.

An Arabian Nights RP. I may yet run this, if people show enough interest, but I doubt I'll have time.

I'd gladly co-GM pretty much any game. I do have a thought for one, that I already have 2 co-GM's lined up for. Just want to see if people would take an interest...

A comedy RP. Hear me out, though. It'll take place in a fantasy-setting Thieves' Guild. (Not just for thieves, mind you, anyone can join!) The thing is, we're all completely inept, and all have some kind of major psychological flaw. There's another guild in town that we're rivals with, and we want to prove we're the best. Running gags will ensue (one of which is that we don't actually know who's in charge of the guild and whatnot). Plot will be basically mission-based with inner-guild workings mixed in, as well as the rivalry with the other guild/city guards. If anyone's interested, either say something here or PM me, I guess.

Not to rain of CT's parade (Though I am), but comedy doesn't work. It's been tried many times, and has failed each time. Even that exact thing you said was tried, just replace thieves with knights.

As for me, I've always wanted to an artic or desert RP. Anything outside of forest and grass. A major (Or high minor) part of it being survival.

Why does the trading sight for speed and sanity for strength remind me so much of Drakenguard on PS2? Yeah I definately see some similarities although all your people were originall ordinary unlike Drakenguard.

Sorry didn't mean to rain on your parade.

I'm juggling some RP ideals in my head nothing solid yet though

My Lead Airbag 10-20-2004 08:04 PM

Its from Drakenguard all right, except without al the incest and with somewhat saner trades (Hey, I'll let you talk and you fight entire armies for me).

h4x.m4g3 10-20-2004 08:08 PM

I drakenguard could be serious and funny at the same time depending on what people give up in return for what?

PC1:I'll give you my eyes for speed
PC2:I'll give you my ears for strength
PC3:I'll give you my nose for intellegence.

PC1: HEY PC2 GET OVER HERE AND HELP
PC2: *can't he see me waving my arms in distress
PC3: What the hell are those 2 doing, dancing and screaming?
*After the battle*
PC1 & PC2: WHAT'S THAT SMELL?!
PC3:What I don't smell anything?

so I can see it going eitherway

Soul Hunters worked. It's a comedy RP. With enough competant people, and someone willing to take charge (along with a little help), a comedy game could work.

I always wanted to actually finish the RP in my sig.

Lycanthrope 10-20-2004 09:29 PM

I actually have a comedy RP idea as well, but this may just work, I stole it from a successful comedy RP someone I know ran, but we'll see...
