Make...the...music...STOP!

Imagine a man, much like me, sitting in his car as he slowly drives it down a road in the middle of nowhere. Seeking entertainment, he turns on his radio.

-the snow, on a one horse open-
Frowning, the man spins the tuner to a different station.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells-
With a scowl on his face he quickly twists the knob again.

-of a white Christ-
Snarling, the man violently jabs one of the preset station buttons.

-shiney nose-
Birds take flight as a car radio suddenly goes whizzing by, forcefully ejected from the man's car in a flurry of wires and plastic.

One week into December and I'm already sick and tired of all the Christmas music all over the place. I guess I'm a bit biased, but...well...
*sigh*
Man, it's gonna be a looooooong time until January...

i thought this was gonna be about a boycott of the RIAA.

i was misled :(

;) this christmas doesn't feel one bit like christmas. maybe it's because it's been mid 60's up until today

ill second that Gramcrackered. i can stand about 50 minutes of christmas music a year. its not that im a grinch or anything, but its just that i dont want this music jammed down my craw everywhere i go.

i worked in a drug store a number of years ago, and around the holiday season the radio station that we had slowly became a christmas channel as we got closer to christmas. 6 hours of christmas music is cruel and unsual punishment. the worst part? there isnt even 6 hours of christmas music, so you hear the same 15 songs over and OVER and OVER again.

one of the few radio stations that plays music i can tolerate recently switched over to an all x-mas station (damn you Clear Channel...DAMN YOU!). but its okay, cuz i found an even better station.

HRslammR 12-06-2003 08:54 PM

clear channel and the RIAA are the axis of evil.

i was in barnes & nobles one day and asked the lady if the cd i was buying *peter frampton baby!* was of the RIAA and she said no and that alot of people were asking that and were putting back CD's that were RIAA.

anybody ever heard of or listen to the vocal majority? damn good christmas music. like really the melodies are superb and i listen to em year round just cause they're good.

Mr. Wind-Up Bird 12-06-2003 09:19 PM

Detroit has something like three all christmas music stations. Not that I care, I only listen to NPR or my iPod.

Deathosaurus Wrecks 12-06-2003 09:57 PM

i dont think bad radio is restricted to Michigan, but i think that theres a definate concentration of really bad radio stations there. 89X is passable at times, but even then, thats canadian. maybe Chicago should start up a radio charity for michigan, there seems to be a surplus of decent radio stations here.

Mr. Wind-Up Bird 12-06-2003 10:12 PM

Someone really needs to destroy our radio stations. It's sooo bad all of the time. ARRGGH MAKE IT STOP!

Caska 12-06-2003 10:23 PM

Can't say I share the pain; I only hear Christmas music when I go to the store or something.

I gave up on the radio quite some time ago... the ones around here are either rap, teeny-bopper pop, or "metal" (they play Metallica once in a while, but everything else is shit, like Slipknot.) And they replay the Same Fucking Songs over and over and over and over and over!!

Radio = the Devil, no matter what time of year.

Not to be confused with that one Disney movie with Cuba Gooding Jr., I hope...

...but yes, I'm starting to get sick of this Christmas stuff, too. It's been playing since before Thanksgiving where I live (someplace near Sacramento).

Muffin Mage 12-06-2003 10:40 PM

I listen to the classical music station anyway, so the only christmas music that I've heard has been the Kenny G stuff that I haven't moved from my Real One thingy.
