Online Multiplayer Games, oh the choices!

Greetings,

I am in the market to start playing one of them online multiplayer games, and I am trying to get some peeps opinions on the ones out there before I make my choice.
I mainly have my eye on Star Wars: Galaxies and Final Fantasy 11.
I guess my main dilemma is that I cant decide which atmosphere I want to play in most, Sci Fi, or Fantasy.

So what words of wisdom do you guys have?

Thanks,
Jack

Well, if you like space combat, you can try out Vendetta. It's still very much a work in progress, but it's free, so you really have nothing to lose except the time and disk space it takes to download it. Best of all, ir works for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.

Diablo 2 expansion is pretty good. but so is day of defeat and some of the halflife games. but the thing about the later is you have to download this thing called steam which is 700-800 Mbytes for the full download.

I already have Diablo and Lord of Destruction. You are right, super fun.

I guess I should have been a little more specific by saying I was interested in peoples opinions of the Massively Multiplayer Online RolePLaying Games. (MMORPG) Any takers?

You may want to wait two months before you go SWG. They are totally revamping the combat system to where it actually requires skill instead of getting the best weapon and spamming your best special. Within a month, vehicles are going to be brought in and we just got mounts and player cities. The community is great(everyone is helpful and a lot like to RP), but the combat and content are lacking somewhat. Im probably going to stick with SWG...it shows major promise, even though it kind of flopped there for a while.

www.starkingdoms.com
www.runescape.com
www.racewarkingdoms.com (brutal to noobies)
www.utopia.com
www.netdragons.com (Vegabonds Quest 1, 2 still beta)
www.battleon.com
www.tacticsarena.com (Very nice)

Those sites can hold anyone over for a few months if they don't have the cash to buy/subscribe to stuff.

Well if you're looking for MMORPGs then you should check out the Warcraft/Starcraft series as well as Civilization 3. There are still lots of people playing Warcraft/Starcraft because it's just that damn good. Civ 3 is a great game too, try those out I highly recommend both of them.

...those aren't MMORPGs at all. Warcraft/Starcraft are RTS, whereas Civ 3 is TBS. *sigh*

Anywho, I play Anarchy Online. If you can find a copy of Shadowlands, buy it... it comes with the main game and Notum Wars as well.

Crap, my bad. This is what comes out of me on no sleep and walking pneumonia. My apologies.
