Psp: $185

Playstation Portable price provided. And it's a hell of a lot lower than what was previously speculated.

Wow. If it weren't for the part about me not having money or a job, I'd probably get it.. when it comes out...

I mean, $400-600 was crazy, but $185? That's... almost buyable. Now if only it cost less than the PS2...

Edit: A thought just came to me...

You'd still have to replace the batteries. Yes, I know they're rechargeable. So is this nifty battery pack that I got for my GBA. It used to get full playing time (about 20 hours) from 5 hours plugged into the wall. Now? 1 hour = 1 minute of playing time. Yes, I used it that much.

'Course, rechargeable Lithium batteries aren;t that expensive, right? They don't cost $30, like that battery pack I mentioned, right?

Three words: not worth it.

A remote for a handheld, wtf. Unless its like a MP3 player remote, it doesn't make any sense. I also like how they don't mention how much the games cost.

I'm gonna wind up getting one anyway. Especially if that's a Darkstalkers game under the Capcom heading.

Drooling Iguana 10-27-2004 11:15 PM

Yeah, it looks like the remote's for music playing. There's some pictures of it, along with the system and box art here.

As I have said from the beginning, for both the DS and PSP, I'll get one or the other when I see good games for it.

And from the list I've seen for the S, the chance for good games are there. All I've heard of for PSP so far have been some games from the DS list and a bunch of games from series on the PS2 (Metal Gear, Ridge Racer, Grand Turismo, Final Fantasy...).

But I'm still going to wait on both to see how the games are.

Now the PSP is $185 in Japan, not the US. I would guess it is going to be $149 when we get it in March or April. It's going to be the same price as a Nintendo DS. Here is a link to all the stats that are know as of today:

jebus. what happened to the whole concept of "handhelds being less expensive than a console"?

i sincearly hope the DS is cheaper than this....

KefkaTaran 10-28-2004 01:26 AM

As was previously mentioned, though, this is a lot better than people were speculating cost-wise.

I'll get one eventually, probably, if the games turn out worth it. But not till it drops more, I'm sure.

Since when? Remember the explosive price of the N64 when it came out? the GBA was right on par with it so many years later.

You forget that introductory price to Xbox/PS2 was 300 bling, and it's only dropped to 150 because they were A - keeping in competition and B - allowed to slow production due to the first-day's rush being over.
