"Drawn Together" first impressions

Anyone else see drawn together tonnight? I've actually been mildly looking forward to it.

However I was a bit let down. The Animation was decent the character interesting for the concept but I felt the majority of the humor was very forced. And they jumped the gun on about five joke that would have been considerably funnier with more build up and a little subtly.

The Racism jokes could have been funnier but they had the subtly of a mac truck. That style of joke works better in stealth for a while.

The lesbian kissing seemed like the animators just had a hard on to animate it.

Some of the funny bits I liked were:

-the gay video game character has to save his girlfriend running joke.
-The Pokemon thing speaking japanese and wanting to kill them all
-the blue ball coming to life and wanting the princess to shoot the president.

Though I guess I understand where their coming from with the idea the pig peeing and crapping on stuff at random was retarded. And I generally despise Adam Corolla, jimmy Kimmel was the talent of the duo and thats not saying a whole lot.

Though The Flow and comedic timing from South Park to Drawn together was night and day. South park has it and Drawn together didn't

Drawn together was way off key... I would suggest slowing it down a bit and a slight melowing of some of the characters.

The Family Guy shove as many jokes down our throats as much as possible per episode approach isn't always the best idea.

Despite these miff I think the show has a good concept, and some potiential. They need to slow down the jokes ever so much, and ad some characterization.

The only ones I thought characterized decently were Captain Hero and the Pokemon thing...

The show as on the border of lame reality tv parody righ now I hope it gets better.

I liked it. I laughed alot, which is all that really matters. However, I really hate Adam Corolla too. That pig character is bad enough without adding him into the mix.

To paraphrase Family Guy: I was really confused at the end of Drawn Together..."How does Adam Corolla keep getting work?!"

Yea! That chick from Jose and the pussy cats, Sponge Bob, Every Disney Princess, and Link weren't very good...because Link isn't gay. Really. I mean, they should have made Sponge Bob gay.

Is that who the black girl was supposed to be? She was the only one I couldn't figure out.

I get where everone was from but didn't understand why Xander was there. He was by far more video game/D&D then cartoon

Jack of Spades 10-28-2004 09:51 AM

They said he was a videogame hero. Videogames use animation too...it's what makes charecters well...move.

I didn't mind the pig too much. HE couldv'e been a bit toned down, but one part that was hilarious is...
Super Guy: ummm...are you defacating into a cantoloupe?
Pig: uh, heha well this is awkward. I gues if I'd waited another hour coulda chaulked this one up to the alcohol.

Now I have to go because "I'm on a never-ending quest to save my girlfriend!"

drawn together is another adam corrolla gig?

Jack of Spades 10-28-2004 01:58 PM

He at least does the voice of the pig. I think the vdeogame guy, superthero, and princess make up for it tho.

And have to say your avatar is unnerving...

Overall, it was okay. I'll probably continue to watch it, mainly for a few of the gags... So, kudos to the makers, they've got a veiwer here, though I don't know if I'll be loyal, that remains to be seen.

That Guy wasn't supposed to be link specifically but he was supposed to just be a fantasy character who for some reason even male character wear very little.... though Link does walk around in tights and a skirt.

Now that I think about man they really didn't use the spongebob style guy at all...
