Dail-up Must Die!

I can't be the only one who HATES dialup. CURSE IT! Curse it I say! DIal-up is pitifully slow and my modem broke (DAMN!) THis is the all purpose DIAL-UP SUCKS! thread.

Living Bobbeh 11-02-2004 01:09 PM

God, I hate Dial-up. I'm on BBand, but people on Dial-up still affect me. When I'm trying to send my friend some LEGAL* files, it gets sent so slowly I've given up trying.

*Ok, not always legal.

Thedarknight 11-02-2004 01:14 PM

Yay!

*Yay* My modem is fixed! No more Dial-up, Hooray!

Lost in Time 11-02-2004 07:53 PM

Lucky Bastard, I can't get DSL in my area because I'm to far out. Sucks to be me...

DragonDaimyo 11-02-2004 10:12 PM

STUPID DIAL_UP!! *chokes dial-up connection* I lived under your curse for years!

I hate all things dial-upish (is that a word? If not, it is now!) I had AOL for a long time and I am so glad to have cable now. My friend's family still uses it (though my friend has seen the light) and it kinda drives me up a wall.

RaiRai 11-03-2004 02:18 AM

What's even worse is to have a cable connection which is retarded enough to sink to dial-up speeds...

Cloud Strife 11-03-2004 03:32 AM

I know EXACTLY what you mean, RaiRai. Happens here a bunch. This post I'm posting now could take five minutes to post, or five seconds. I never know with this damn thing.

Y`know, I quite like my dial-up connection. I have unlimited downloads.

Then again, what I'd do (within reason) to have a fast connection!

QueenQeeko 11-03-2004 10:16 AM

Foolishness!

Chicago, wake up! On my DSL I have fast connection/transfer speed AND unlimited downloads!

MNMinion 11-03-2004 10:32 AM

I dont have any internet connection now except for at school and friends house, but when I did have it I couldnt do anything, and to make it wores I had dial up, a crapy PC AND Aol so it ran like crap, no wait I mean it ran with broken legs in sand with a chain around its neck and paper cuts on its hands, so Im probably better off with no dial up becuase all it does is make me mad at my PC.
If only I had money for DSL (Begins dreaming).

h4x.m4g3 11-03-2004 03:35 PM

I have Cable and I have to say when playing WC3 I want to kill people who use dial up
5 minute at the loading screen then 3 minutes of spastic lag, before he finally drops dead.

Yes, but I've heard that a fast connection causes impatience.

Still, wouldn't mind clearing out my download list, get it all out of the way...

Meister 11-03-2004 05:43 PM

How can you even have a download list that needs clearing up on dial-up? When I had dial-up, it cost so much per minute that I couldn't be online for more than 1, 1 1/2 hours tops a day. Which is frustrating when you have webcomic archives to read and flash cartoons to watch and all that.

chryos_the_forsaken 11-03-2004 10:07 PM

My fellow forumers, those of you in the United States need to invest in a company called cynergy. They are going to send your internet access through powerlines, the baseline speed is faster than cable w/ unlimited dls, aswell as being cheaper than dsl, dial up, and cable. It goes through ur friggin powerlines too so its pretty much wireless.(except for the powercord)

For those of you in Australia, I can only pity you and rejoice in my luck of living a mile from a dsl station.

darkt0aster 11-03-2004 11:54 PM

hehe, i remember my dial-up days. ran at half-steam on a good day and made me a Mechwarrior 3 god (w00t for the 56k armor!). Unfortunately, this also cut out a whole slew of other titles, such as any half-life game involving more than 4 players.
Oh well... at least it helped pass a boring summer in which I downloaded about 500 SNES roms.

Dyamn, Meister. Dial-up like that really should've been avoided.
My dial-up lasts a good 4 hours per session, so it's only a pain when chatting to people for a long time.

Or roleplaying at the last minute.

Or downloading files that take forever to download, by which I mean more than four hours.

As for my download list (Currently 88 files long; Several of those files probably no longer exist anymore), a little program called FlashGet is responsible for that.

As if Microsoft ever thought of a pause button.
