I still need a country from everyone who hasn't chosen one they want to be. I can't play around with the land so I need everyone to choose an actual country they want to control.

Okay, a slight change to the format that everyone might want to be aware of. Each country is divided into regions, not cities (i.e. in the U.S. the regions are the 50 states). I'm not going to ask people for 50 region names (although if you want to you are welcome to), but I will be using the city names you gave me for the regions. If you want to add any more, just post them up.

I've played around with the modding tool a bit and found that you change virtually everything in the game, so all is going according to plan so far. GolemLabs just posted an update in their forums yesterday that they are expecting to complete the second patch next week. As soon as it's out I will start making our mod.

There's a rumor that the patch might remove the ability to name regions, but there's really nothing to lose by trying it.

There's still openings for anyone who wants to join in. From what I've heard, the multiplayer kicks all sorts of ass. Although, on the server they beta-tested it on, all of the players just started nuking each other right off the bat. I just want to warn everyone who's planning on playing via their computer that this can cause the game to crash (in addition to, ya know, ending the world). I'd also like to keep this as realistic as possible.

I'll eventually post a complete reference sheet of everyone's countries and their specs.

As I said before... if you can't custom make a country, give me Switzerland!

Deathosaurus Wrecks 11-02-2004 02:33 PM

dibs on Uzbekistan.

regional names follow the military alphabet (alpha sector, bravo sector, ect.), the list of which can be found here: http://www.geocities.com/WestHollywo...abet_code.html

Oh, and one more neat little thing about the game's multiplayer. If you somehow get disconnected during the game, you can log back on and take back your country. While you're gone, the computer takes control of your country so you won't automatically lose the game.

And if you don't like all that micromanagement, like controlling every little thing about the economy, you can let the computer control either the political, economic, or military spheres at any time so you can focus more on something else.

I'll take Australia.

I'm pretty sure, I'll go back and check the old thread for everyone's eventually. And the game's SuperPower 2.

Here are some reviews, good and bad:

GameSpot
Gamespy
ActionTrip
IGN

Have you set up the alliances/enemies thing yet? I'd just like to see the relationships between countries and such.

MasterOfMagic 11-02-2004 03:22 PM

You even occomidated my laziness. This I like.

Hmm. I'm not sure if I'd like the game or not. I like controling gov, but lots of options bogg me down sometimes. I like open endedness, but I like to have some goals.

I'll have to think about it...

Okay, time for some bad news. Well, for me at least. I have a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz with 512 DDR RAM on a T1 connection. And I was planning on hosting the game. But, our school is notorious for slow connection speeds and lag spikes, plus this game transmits craploads of information, so I have narrowed it down to two options. 1) Someone else with a better connection can host or 2) I can sit it out and make my computer a dedicated server. I'll still be able to watch the game play out, but I won't be participating.

Of course, this only affects the people actually playing using the game.
