A personal opinion on decisions...
This will be the second time I write this, seeing as how thanks to some errors I lost my last copy of this post.
Now to get started: A) I am Canadian, so anything I say is unbiased because it effects me in no way physically, but it is what I have seen and it has effected me on emotional and mental levels B) This is a personal opinion, I in no way hate American people, I currently hold one very dear to me, I have a problem with those who are very arrogant and ignorant, self righteous who believe that they rule the world. I also have a problem with the American government. C) What I say in no way is tieable to the band X Japan. They were the greatest band that has ever existed (Luna Sea is a close second), I on the other hand am a small time musician who reads a webcomic in his spare time Well, your election is over, and I find it to be one of the most humorous things I have ever seen. It is like an abusive relationship, you keep threatening to leave but when it comes time to get away from the one who is hurting you, there seems to be some belief that they will treat you better this time. No, Bush is not going to make things any better for you, face the facts his agenda remains the same. I find it hilarious because during the last election so many people were saying that it was Al Gore who was pro-war and Bush would save this country. It seems almost, a critical error for the American populace. I personally, although did not want it to happen, knew that Bush was going to win this election. There was no way he could lose, he had precisely what he needed to win, you dont need EVERYONES support, you just need the right support, and he had the right support, even if they were from the wrong groups. One of these would be the racist American people. Lets face it, you know it, I know it, America is the number one most racist country in the entire world. Its not even just racism, not many Americans know anything about Canada, which may not have to do with race but more with ignorance, and even in many occassions I have spoken to people, prejudice. The racist people, especially those who hate Iraqies and Muslims, were lining up to promote Bush in this election, because they got precisely what he wanted. I am not saying Muslim Hater as in 9/11, I am talkin about those who just for the sake of being racist are racist, and there are many. Another large, very large group would be the homophobic sect of your culture. Yes, you are going to have to face it, there are males who love males and females who love females. What right do any of you have to tell these people they are not allowed to get married, and whats more no longer allowed to have sexual encounters. When two people love eachother, they should be allowed to express their love, although marriage is no big deal, why should the government determine who loves who, its a piece of paper, its useless, but to tell them they may have no sexual encounters is just rediculous. When two guys kiss in America it is a scandal, when two guys kiss anywhere else it is kind of kinki and/or something between friends and/or something that does not matter. Why do only 'fags' hug eachother in friendship, why can only 'fags' be emotional? Look it up, a fag is a CIGARRETTE! Just like a fagGOT is a bundle of sticks. There are a great deal of pompous people who think that everything is missionary position this and guys cant be together that. How many of these same people think the hottest thing is two girls making out? It is hypocriticism on so many levels. Strike one more prejudice group for the Bush campaign, Kerry what a fatal flaw, letting homosexual people live like PEOPLE... you might have won if you hadnt been OPEN MINDED. Religeon in politics? I thought that religeon and state were not mixable? So many people use that to just be crybabies and get their way, but its a 'good' thing when Bush uses it to promote his campaign? No the crazy ideallism of the American citizens didnt make you win, 'god' made you win... Sounds more like something Lucifer would create than Jehova, no? Morons, yes I said it, it had to come to it. How many people went into the ballot not knowing what they were doing? Or not caring, just wanting to be 'american' seeing as how MTV is promoting "VOTING". I dont watch MTV, too immature for my tastes, but I wonder if it was Bush they promoted, I would not pass that up. Whats more, what about those who whine and complain, yet when it comes to voting time use the excuse "well I have always voted Republican.." Its not an excuse, stand by your convictions or silence yourself, you have no business complaining if you cause what happens, its like shooting yourself in the foot and crying because you cant walk. The USA was once a world power, but what is it now? You are falling into an economical crisis, and Bush is on a warpath, and that was when he had opposition, now that the Republicans are majority what are you going to do? Complete and total control of your country belongs to Bush. It looks like a long schedual of wars and poverty ahead for the American citizens. One of Bush's enemies is North Korea it seems, well I have bad news for you, North Korea has the weapons to fight back, it wont be tanks driving against the Iraq people where all they have to promote resistance is guerilla tactics? It seems the Americans promote their own terrorism. Check back to the first World War, if you remember how that started. the ArchDuke was assassinated, when they went to get the group that killed him the war started. Im sorry but that is kind of similar to what the US is doing with their wars against everyone, but the world wont make a coalition to stand against them. The world will not NEED to create this coalition, Bush is in power, in the next 4 years there is a high chance you will no longer be the world power, I am sorry but it is true. In one term he has put your country in an economic crisis, and he now has a second term, and NO holds against him either. Plus being his second term, he is not even a candidate for the next election, so it will not matter to him WHAT he does to the country, he can just as easily move to another country when the torchbearers come to burn him to dust for ruining their country. But what right do you hypocrites have to complain? The Democrat supporters, I am sorry that you lost your chance to save your country, you tried your best. The Republican supporters, not ONE complaint, you are not permitted it. It is YOUR fault, no matter what happens now, you threw the match in the gasoline, when it blows youll have to stand near the burn. Now, I am not a Kerry supporter, but throwing a pebble on a chart and where it lands is the decision of the day for the country would create better leadership than Bush has to offer, instead of choosing who is the better candidate, since neither is "good", your option is to find the lesser of two evils. I believe I will end this with an apology, not for my words I hold them true, but if this post shows up twice because my first one pops up after telling me it failed, I apologize for a double post, this one is better written anyways. If you read this far, I thank you for reading it, I appreciate that even if you hate my words you would take the time to read everything I have said. |
*applauds*
very good. It's nice to see that some people haven't lost their minds yet. lol |
First off: DISSCUSSION FORUMS! Please. Pretty Please? With sugar on top? This is a very serious topic, it belongs there. You'll have to wait for a mod to move it now, but keep it in mind next time.

EDIT: He fixed it! Yay, for him! Sorry, I'm not a mod, but these things do tend to bug me.... Ok, now that my frustrations are gone... Yay! you have a great point of veiw there. You seem to be analyzing the situation, which is always a good thing. But please don't assume you know everything. Many people have been putting Bush's win down to "people voting solely on party". I must tell you, a lot, and I mean alot, of people voted for Bush where I live. Everyone of them I know and talk to did just as you did, analyzed the situation, and decided on who they wanted to vote for. I'm not saying some people didn't blindly go to the poles, but I can tell you, from what I've seen (all I've got to draw on really) the majority of the people didn't. Assuming the majority did, well, its just so... bleh. |
You know what? I want to hear what Mashirosen has to say about this. I do because if I spoke up about how I feel about what this guy is making claims about, then I'm entirely unsure of whether the words that will come out of my mouth is what I really intended to say or not.
Nevermind, I'll say it. To begin with, it is nice to get the opinion of non-Americans. It's not their president, they're not voting for him, and they're not stuck with him if he wins. It looks like you focus pretty much on Bush, which leads me to believe that you haven't really considered in the slightest Kerry's true failings. I personally don't know Kerry's failings. I can't exactly say if he really has any. I was one of those who didn't vote. Call me lazy. Call me indecisive. Call me unable to decide who is better. Also, who gave you the right to label all the people who voted for Bush? I didn't exactly see you making labels for the people who voted for Kerry, though you made implications about a few, like homosexuals who wanted to get married. And since Bush is such a warmonger...well, hell, we'll label the "peacelovers" as I would expect you'd call 'em as Kerry supporters, too. Am I putting words in your mouth? Nope. Not from what you're insinuating. And now we accuse Bush as a "terrorist" and the greater of two evils. Right. Look, I'm not even going to talk about it because you seem like exactly the type of guy who'll turn any word I say around into a label for me. I've already given you enough of a chance to do that in the first place, but I need to draw the line somewhere. I've never been confident of anything at all but I'm confident of this: I certainly don't think that we made a mistake when we elected and re-elected President Bush just as we didn't make a mistake when we elected and re-elected Bill Clinton. And if we did, then we're human enough to know when, where, and why we fucked up, and we don't need derogatory labels from guys like you whenever we make a decision about our futures. I swear, even if we did vote Kerry in, we would've gotten something like this. |
Personally, even though I too am a Canadian, and my views seem to mirror the ones presented above, I cannot say I am unbiased because I am not a member of your country, and neither can he. We may not be biased based on nationality, but we are biased based on out political views. I am guessing that X Japan is, like me, a Social Democrat. This is not a Democrat, it's an ideology, not a party.
No one is unbiased in anything; I will be the first to admit that when Bush won I said "You know, I now belive that 51% of Americans are Retarded." but that's because of my bias against fundamentalism and it's growing influence on the Republican Party. I was not surprised that Bush won. there, I said it. I am not happy with it, but it's out there. Mainly my opinion is based on Bush's track record in US/Canada Relations and his blatant disregard of the NAFTA agreement of '94. Free trade for America, but Tarrifs on Canada. IE: BC Softwood Lumber, PEI Potatos, etc etc. This kind of pisses me off. Canada is Bigger, and on top. if this was prison, America would be our bitch... In addition to his stance on the Iraqi War. "Al Quada attacked America, lets get back at them by attacking a country that had nothing to do with it." anyway, Just getting a few rants out there. Point is, I agree with the above said opinions, though I do think they could have been presented in a less-confrontational manner. |
Weren't the confrontations in Iraq started even before Bush was elected? 9/11 was just fuel for a fire that was already burning hot and high, I think. I dunno if we labeled it or anything and I don't particularly care to ask. Granted, it scorched over areas I don't think should've been hit, but I'm just one guy. Can't do nothing about that when I work for the government.

In reality, the country was in favour of Kerry. Only 17% of 18-29 year olds actually voted.
Had at least 40% voted, it's pretty much certain he-with-the-name-of-twat would not be in power. |
I apologize profusely, I am quite new to this forum as you can see, and I have never seen a forum that seperated General from Serious Discussion. When it is 1 in the morning and you are only writing something because late at night you have your most emotional charge, you tend to do it.
Now on another note, I did not label ALL of Bush's supporters, that was not my problem, my problem was the fact that any person with a closed mind living in America voted for Bush because he was the person who protected their goals. Yes, there ARE the people who in their hearts believed that Bush was the best candidate for presidency, and good for them, they made an informed political decision that was well deserved, but if you tell me that none of my points were valid, then I will laugh right now, because there is NO way that a Muslim/Iraqie hating person and a Homophobic person is going to vote for someone who was going to A) End this Iraq war and B) Stop treated homosexual people as if they are leppers spreading their disease. I do thank you for responding to my post maturely, all of you who did it, I am quite pleased to see that there are so many of us who can enjoy a comic with such humor, even though intelligent humor at many occassions, it is still humor, and still be mature enough to act responsibly in a forum. Although, to declare that I am just going to turn around and use your words against you is not something that pleases me entirely, I was under the influence that this topic should be maturity based when I wrote it, therefore I in no way plan to change that. Say what you want, you have Freedom of Speech, for now anyways. As for being against Bush, yes one of the reasons (I have MANY more) is because I am a peaceful person. I dont care if someone hits me, I will not hit back, because to use violence is to create havock and I love serenity. And please do not compare this to me being a Canadian, there are Canadians who signed up for the American army to help in the Iraq war, personally I wouldnt join if the Canadian army was there because this was an uncalled for invasion. Yes Kerry was for peace, but if he lost for believing in peace then maybe so many American stereotypes of enforcing the world and wanting to rule the world are true, at least 51% true. I guess one of the best things of the election is that it was close, and yes Bush had some supporters, but how many of them fall into the categories that I pointed out. Edit: The Iraq war (The Gulf War) was ended before George Bush Sr. was out of power, all they were since then was an enemy to the United States who wouldnt conform to the world alliance. 9/11 wasnt even INVOLVING Iraq, so anyone who uses that as an excuse for the Iraq war is wrong, Bush was fighting his daddy's war and noticed that they had a lot of oil that he could control by controlling the country. Again this is my opinion but the Iraq War was NOT started until long after 9/11. They claimed there were hidden nuclear weapons to be used against them, but once they had control of Iraq's capital the truth came out, there was NOTHING, it was just a random attack. |
Okay, so I have some more things to say, after reading agian:

Bush has already declared he has plans for more wars, and the Iraq war is going to last at least 1 maybe even 2 more years, Bush was the one who intended to keep it going Kerry was the one who did not.
Yes, he CAN be removed from office, but no he was not the majority last time, last term the Democrats had the majority everywhere else except for president as far as I can remember. Plus the fact that they say on CNN that last term he didnt have it... I am not talking about people with GOOD values voting, I am proud of them for their political decision, I am talking about Bush getting support from the wrong people, and I wonder if you either did not read that or just agree with the racism or homophobism or religeous votes or whichever you chose, I am not sure for certain and I am not in any way using this to attack you, I am just saying that if I were running I would rather lose knowing that good people voted for me than having racists and gay bashers voting for me. Then again Bush is both of those, or at least ACTS like both of those, I would certainly not doubt it. |
