Newb, if it was one of the FF characters in KH, I wouldn't think FC would object. Sora, however, is entirely separate from FF.
yeah, i wouldn't even have thought of having sora except the premise seemed so much like kh's
because the premise is so alike, there is a very minor chance she will say okay. note: the chance is not that big as far as i'm concerned |
There are a few reasons why I am withdrawing myself from this RP now... First, Flare seems to not be here very often to answer questions. Second, I was really wanting to develop a character that was semi-unknown (Rachel or Daryl for instance). Third, the talk of stats and materia and GFs and Espers... Enough said there. Fourth, as everyone is using very preset characters, we seem to be in major violation of one of the rules (the one where you're supposed to make up your own character instead of using stock characters). I know it may be an exception as that is the whole premise of the RP, but as the ability to develop my own character is completely gone, well... I don't want to play as someone that everybody already knows. It is sort of restricting when you have to be someone else's character, and besides, if I want to play as Aeris or Cloud, I'll go play FFVII. Good luck to you guys though, there were probably a few too many people anyways.
~Aeria |
TKP, no, you can't be Rufus. I said no NPCs.
Newb, nope, you can't be Sora. Ikillkenny, nope, can't be Sephiroth. Yes, you do kinda control him at one point in th egame, but even then you can't do anything with him. And just so you know, yes, this is allowed to an extent, but just so long as there isn't ones like this popping up all over the place. And clouds's right. And what happoned to you all posting up what your character's have and stuff? Soaking of which, Cloud, pick one sowrd and go with it. |
I get to be a mage! ^_^
*is happy* finally, a Black Mage will have a real role in Final Fantasy...somebody call the Civil Liberties movement! *starts dancing* On a more serious note... Aeria, I'm sad to hear that, but I do have an idea. Some of the games had younger characters, much like Palom and Porom from FFIV, who didn't get to show much of the personality they would have later on. Perhaps you could try one of those? |
eh ya i too am gonna pull out, it just doesnt seem to fun anymore....
I definitely agree with what Aeria is saying. This, in my opinion, would work much better as a final fantasy tactics type of thing, where the same evil force is coming after our world, and we might meet established characters as NPC's, but that's it. Just my two cents worth you guys can keep doing this, but playing an existing character doesn't seem that fun after you have some time to get over the initial awesomeness.
Sorry that i've been gone. My parents refused to let me on so im sneeking on while their gone. So what's going on? I can deal with doing FFT/FFTA characters since i do have both games.
I don't know anything about FFT/FFTA characters.
basically, just choose a class like blue mage or fighter or white mage or dragoon or summoner or something, and make up your own ff character
heres and example:
(This is one of my chars.) Barely Black Mage Abilities: [A]Black Magic, [A]Items, [R]Return Magic, [S]Geomancy, [C]None Equipped Items: Black Hat, Reaper Cloak, Thor Rod, Magic Ring, Red Boots Move: 3, Jump: 2, Evade: 37 Weapon Atk.: 356, Def.: 392 Magic Power: 463, Res.: 558 Speed: 144 You basically start out with one blank person, choose a job, equip items that give abilities to that job, work at the ability until you've mastered the ability, switch items and do it again. You can keep doing this with every job until you've mastered them all. My main guy is a ninja/thief. |
All right, FC, I'll get to that. But, I'll need to get FFVII from my friend here in town, so I can check up on it. It's been literally years since I've played FFVII...my copy was STOLEN!!! T-T
But, yeah, I'll get back to you on that. I suppose that you'll also want me to use only one bangle, too, right? |
I'm actually fine with using either FFT or my Tifa as my Character.
..Wouldn't an FFT character kinda destroy the point of the story? I thought this was a bunch of distinct people from different worlds that got stuffed together. FFT/A characters are really little more than controllabe NPCs.
Palom's the Black Mage and Porom's the White Mage. Together, they had a power which damaged the whole enemy party with either the Comet or Flare. I didn't take long before Palom and Porom proved more powerful than Tellah at his best. At about level 25, Palom's Fire 2 spell was stronger than Tellah's Fire 3 spell, but Tellah wasn't meant to be a powerful character in the game, due to his age and the fact that he never gained more than the 90 MP he started with, no matter how much you leveled him.
Edge is cool because he can dual wield the katana series of swords. He was unstoppable when you equipped him with Murasame and Masamune. The swords were even enchanted to affect the party with Haste or affect the enemy with Slow. I think he had only six ninja abilities. Flame (Fire attack), Flood (Water attack), Blitz (Lightning attack), Image (Creates duplicates which take physical damage for you), and I think one that used smoke bombs so you could escape, called Smoke, and another which dropped...what I assumed were bowling pins on the enemy to Confuse them, which was called Pin. Damnit, if only I had that game with me to make sure, but I think that's all of it. Plus, he can throw swords, knives, ninja stars, and other things to do damage to the enemy. Edge is damn good. Anyways, since nobody picked her, I'll be the badass and sexy adult Rydia from Final Fantasy IV. Name: Rydia Abilities: Black Magic / Summon Equipment Weapon: Lightning Whip Shield: None Head: Ribbon Body: Lune Dress Arms: Rune Ring Black Magic Fire 1 - Beginner's level Fire spell. Sets the target ablaze. Fire 2 - Adept's level Fire spell. Scorches the target with living flame. Fire 3 - Master's level Fire spell. Obliterates the enemy with flesh devouring explosions and burning flares. Ice 1 - Beginner's level Ice spell. Hammers the target with needles of frozen water. Ice 2 - Adept's level Ice spell. Bites into the enemy's flesh with frigid ice teeth. Ice 3 - Master's level Ice spell. Crushes the enemy under a gargantuan ice stalactite. Lightning 1 - Beginner's level Lightning spell. Strikes the target down with a bolt of Lightning. Lightning 2 - Adept's level Lightning spell. Electrified the target with ball lightning. Lightning 3 - Master's level Lightning spell. Flash fries the target with bolts from the blue. Venom - Inflicts Poison on the target. Surrounds the target with a plume of noxious gases that inflict poison if inhaled. Virus - Inflicts Virus on the target. Smites the enemy with a hungry infection that rapidly eats up Hit Points. Drain - Magically transfers Hit Points from the target to the caster. Psyche - Magically transfers Magic Points from the target to the caster. Quake - Only Earth spell available. Opens a giant crevasse into the ground. Doesn't damage flying and floating targets. Weak - Reduces the target to near death Hit Point status using a life-sucking whirlwind. Stone - Curses the flesh of the target with petrification. A status effect like KO that can be restored by casting Esuna instead of Life or Life 2. Death - Instantly kills the target with the Grim Reaper's cold embrace. Doesn't work on most bosses. Nuke - Unleashes unhealthy doses of volatile energies on the targets. Second to the Metero spell in terms of damage that Black Magic inflicts. Meteor - Calls down the wrath of straying rock from outer space. Affects the entire party of the selected targets. The Black Magic of legend. Summon Chocobo - Summons a Chocobo which damages the enemy with rapid talon kicks. Titan - Summons Titan, who opens a fissure into the bedrock that then swallows enemies. Doesn't damage flying and floating targets. Dragon Mist - Summons a dragon made of mist that exposes the targets to cold, damaging "Mist Breath." Jinn - Summons Jinn the spirit of fire that uses "Hellfire" to deal considerable fire damage to the targets. Shiva - Summons Shiva the spirit of ice that uses "Diamond Dust" to deal considerable ice damage to the targets. Indra - Summons Indra the spirit of lightning that uses "Lightning Blast" to deal considerable lightning damage to the targets. Asura - Summons the legendary Queen of the Monsters that will either cast a powerful Cure 2 spell, Cure 3 spell, Cure 4 spell, or Life on the targets. Asura used good tactics, but they weren't good enough for White Mage Rosa's Wall spell. Leviathan - Summons the legendary King of the Monsters that will use "Tidal Wave" to deal considerable water damage to the targets. Let's just say that Leviathan felt it wise to grant his power to Rydia after her "shocking" performance in her battle to prove herself worthy of him. Sylph - Summons Sylph who joined Rydia for martial arts master Yang's sake. Drains Hit Points from the enemy targets and transfers them to the ally party. Odin - Summons Odin who rushes into the targeted party, dividing them in two and instantly killing them. Does not work on most bosses. A gift from the former king of Baron Castle. Imp - Summons Imp, who does considerable non-elemental damage to one target. Bomb - Summons Bomb, who does considerable non-elemental damage to all targets. Bahamut - Summons Bahamut, the legendary dragon, who unleashes monumental non-elemental damage with his famous attack, the "Mega Flare." Bahamut didn't grant this to Rydia easily, but rather through trail by countdown. That's as much as I remember off the top of my head. I'll update as I learn more. |
Damn! That's a lot of abilities and Summons! I guess Tifa will have competition to be the sexiest gal. :p
Not really. Rydia was 16-bit...orginally. Tifa was 3D polygons, CG, and anime. Tifa is by far the sexiest woman in Final Fantasy. I like Yuna, but Tifa's got it going on. She's all that and a canister of Pringles...'cause bags of chips get all crumbled up 'n' shit.
I think there's something missing in her arsenal but I think I truely got everything. |
Tifa IS the sexiest woman in Final Fantasy! I mean, look at some of the artwork of her!
Rydia was nice too, but not quite as buxom, and lacked something of Tifa's classic beauty. Rydia is going to caus some small problems, since this will require a reason for her to look the same age as she was at the end of the game, while Palom is now a young adult. I was thinking that perhaps she would be unable to age further until she had "made up" the time she spent in the Land of Summoned Creatures...but that's just my idea. Also, how advanced would Palom's black magic be at this point, and what abilities would he have? I'm guessing that he would have all of Rydia's spells, but other than that I'm not sure. |
Hmmm...well, that's true. We'll just make Rydia a very sexy woman now. She was about 17 to 19 at around the end of Final Fantasy IV so if we turn Palom and Porom, who were...oh, maybe 9, into young adults, Rydia would be a nice, mature 26 to 28 years old. She'd be so hawt.
Palom should have all of Rydia's Black Magic. We could always NPC Porom if you want. I can dig into my head for all the White Magic spells if I need to, and you can upgrade their Twin powers to include more than just Flare and Comet, probably. |
I was thinking that Porom wouldn't be there for some reason. Even if they were close as little kids, their different idealogies might drive them apart as they grew older.
As for the twin ability...cute as it was when they were kids, it would be slightly redundant as they became adults. I was also thinking that Palom would have figured out how to use spells like that on his own by now, Flare, Comet, and perhaps Ultima. One thing Rydia has that Tifa doesn't: she uses whips as a weapon. Very, very sexy green-haired chick with a whip....mmm...gah, I'm such a pervert! >.< As for items, do the characters have them at the start of this RP? I mean, besides iconic weapons like Cloud's Buster Sword or Rydia's whip. |
How old is Tifa now? I kinda forgot ^_^;; And when is this thing gonna start?
Rydia could also use the bow and arrows, staffs, and rods if I remember correctly.
*thinks of so many, many dirty jokes with that last remark* *snickers immaturely*
What're you talking abou-...oh! Heh.
don't have access to my ps2 right now, i'll post the stats that tidus has on friday
How many of a character's items are we going to include?
What they can equip on themselves. Basically it'll be sorta FFT-ish, though they will have the equipment they saved from when their respective quests on them (IE armor, weapon, stuff like that.)
So can i keep the stats/items that I already have?
Quote:
It'll be included.
Will it be available at the start of the game? I mean, Cloud Strife is a kick-ass warrior without Materia, but if he starts the game with it he would be a kick-ass warrior with incredible abilities and the power to hurl spells like a mage. Those of us with characters from earlier games (in which spellcasting was limited to certain classes) would need something to compensate for that weakness.
Like I said, I have yet to figure it out yet. So far the best one I've come up is having some sort of effect happon that'll level the playing field a bit.
Well, we could always have the characters agree to play like they are, regardless of what game they're from. I mean, I don't mind if his Cloud is always more powerful than my Rydia.
Good idea. I mean, like I said, I haven't had one that I could reasonably pull off.

Hmm...should we focus less on the exact statistics and items we have, saving ourselves work all around? Levels, experience, even the battle system shift from game to game, so calculating your exact level and abilities is either pointless or forces poor FC to create a system of converting and comparing every one of these stats. I had a point somewhere in there, didn't I? Yes, I did, and it was about focusing less on the exact stats. Meaning that you should just give the basic information about your character, to familiarize those of us who haven't played the game in question. Everything else is up to FC, and all of my suggestions are just suggestions. |
I think dragonsbane is right, why not just play 'freeform'?
Or we could just use the characters as they are in the beggining of the game they were originaly in (cecil would still be paladin since he goes back to level one after the change) btw, if theres still room i would like to join in. its bad that sephiroth isnt allowed... there is no cooler chara in the ff series... sephiroth wasnt really evil, it was the jenova cells inplanted in him before he was born that made him insane. but, i guess that doesent matter. well... what other chara could i be... oh yeah! cecil is my third favorite (since cloud is alredy taken, damn you cloud!) Cecil class=Paladin Weapon=Excalbur or light (depends on the game settings) Shield=Crystal or light Armor=Crystal or light Helmet=Crystal or light accesory=Crystal or iron ring White magic: Cure lv1, lv2, lv3 (if light used only cure lv1) heal Sight Peep and other white magic if possible. if it is allowed i would like to make a chara of my own (based on the ff7 system, i will not use much materia if that is allowed) |
Okay, since I couldn't get a hold of my friend with the game, I'm going to go with Heaven's Cloud (eight slots, none of them linked).
That sounds like a good idea there DB. (And it saves me a headache) And OmniShadow, it's taking place after the game.
well.. there wont be much to learn in the rp if all is fully upgraded, i mean if i would be cloud for an example i would start att level 99 and have ultima weapon and 2 of the master materias since i have it in my game, that would be pretty damn boring having charakters that cant evolve and become stronger. (just cause it is after the game doesent necesarely mean we cant start our charakters as they were in beggining of the games)
although that is just my opinion, hope someone agree so that this may become a real rp instead of a slaughter the bad guys and then were done game. |
I don't even think this will start since it's been taking forever to get everyone ready. And I won't be here from Wednesday til Monday. I'm going down to Florida for TG. So if this does start, somneone please God-mode me.

Either she meant Godmod, or Godmode, as in make her invincible, unlimited everything, etc etc. Which, when you think about it, is godmodding anyway.
I know what godmode is, but in this context it confuses me. Do you think she means "please don't get my character killed"?
She can always bring her character in later. That way, it definitely doesn't get killed. Who said that RPGs always started with the Player Characters all there?
Wouldn't Tifa be with Cloud, though? I mean, considering their relationship near the end of FFVII...*ducks a swat of the Buster Sword*
seems like no one cared about what i said...
too bad for me then. |
Nah, it's just that FC hasn't gotten around to answering it yet.

Blame the Marine Corps, not me for being gone.
Anyway, I did say that not all Materias will be around, due to the fact that they're way over-powered. |
Yeah, for example, I was thinking that absolutely none of the Master materias would be allowed, no Knights of the Round, no Ultima Materia, I'd say no Enemy skill materia, due to the fact that some of them are indeed broken, not to mention having to keep track of which skills you have and haven't learned yet, no Heal materia, no Quadra magic, none of the 'W' materias...
If I can think of others, I'll put 'em up, too. But, again, just suggestions. It's up to FC which ones are allowed and which ones aren't. EDIT: Oh yeah, and no Mime Materia, either. EDIT 2: Okay, decided to make this easier, and make a table of it: No Master materia (ie, Master Magic, Master Summon, and Master Command), Quadra magic or Mega All materia. Summon materia Knights of the Round Magic Ultima Heal Command Enemy Skill W-Item W-Summon W-Magic Mime |
I'll allow the Enemy Skill one. After all, it's just a Blue Mage that fits in your pocket, right?
Could I join? I was thinking that I could be Fighter/Knight (FF1), Dragoon/Lancer (FF3), or Berserker (FF5). None of these use magic, materia, or summons. Pretty simple. I'm not sure which I should choose though.

and ff3 is actualy ff6 its just some wrong doing from america when they translated the game, i think (or maybe it was nintendo, dont remember correctly) |
Ahh, my apologies. Has Kain, Galuf, or Shadow been taken yet?
BTW: FF3 was FF3 in Japan and never came to America for the NES. FF6 came to America as the third Final Fantasy game to be brought to American shores so they named it FF3. FF6 is the one with Locke, Terra, etc etc..which is the one that was renamed as FF3 for the SNES. While the actual FF3 stayed in Japan. It's the same situation with FF2 and FF4. FF2 was never brought to America and FF4 with Cecil, Kain, Rosa, etc, was renamed as FF2 in America because it was the second Final Fantasy game released in America for the SNES. Final Fantasy 5 never came to America for the SNES. |
Though FF5 did for the Playstation.....
And I beleve Kain has been taken. |
hey i'll be zell if hes free i forgot wat his equip is though so only thing i know is knucks
im new so if u dont want to include me in this im fine with that

Also, I said FF5 wasn't released in America for the SNES. I never said it wasn't released in America for the Playstation. |
read the whole thread and you will know what charas arent taken and who are.
Okay, I just read this entire thread. I so got dibs on Shadow. He's in FFVI which fits with the FFIV to FFX-2 rule, Shadow is still alive, and nobody in this thread chose him. I'll add his stats to my post in awhile.
Duff, don't double post.
And yes, you can be Zell. Just list his equipment, any spells he has, etc. |
This thread is getting to be quite long...
Perhaps it would be a good idea to open another thread, and list who is playing who in the first post? |
Alright, here's the basic and simple layout for Shadow.
Name: Shadow Weapon: Shuriken Armor: None Helm: None Accessories: None Command: Throw Magic: None Espers: None Relics: None |
Hiroshina this rp is after the game has ended, your eaquipment is worrser than they are the first time you meet him.

Okay, just to recap, here's the list of people that have signed up for this, going chronologically:
Flarecobra: Celes, FFVI Foamy: Tifa, FFVII MLA: Cid, FFVII Myself: Cloud, FFVII Chrono: Locke, FFVI H4x: Irvine, FFVIII Dragonsbane: Palom, FFVI Armored Bishoujo: Rydia, FFIV Newb: Tidus, FFX Omnishadow: Cecil (FFIV, right?) duff_the_mage: Zell, FFVIII Hiroshino: Shadow, FFVI That's everyone so far. |
yeah cloud thats correct (if cobra wont let me be the almighty seph)
aw crap! i want too be seph! there are no cooler dude in any game. im a total Sephiroth maniac as you can see --_--" |
Yeah, Final Fantasy VII had a lot of funny moments. Final Fantasy IV didn't have as many. There was the sibling comedy between Palom and Porom, the feuding between Tellah and Cid, and Edge hitting on the chicks. There was even a little comedy between Yang and his wife, but that was about it as far as I can remember.
No, Omnishadow, apparently you can't be Sephiroth...
i know that...
its just that i want soooo much |
You have stated that already, repitition of this desire will not get you permission to RP Sephiroth. Besides, he's dead, it isn't easy to RP a corpse.
We seem to be talking about the chars more than starting the RP.
Exactly my thoughts, Foamy...
Im glad I atleast chose Tifa as my char. instead of some NPC. Flare could you please start the RP?!
I plan on it.
When? 2006?!
In other words...
Can you give us a projected date, possibly, FC? Thank you. ^^
