Order of the Dragon, Chapter 2
Chapter 2 - "Crossing over."
After waking and travelling more, the party finally reached the town of Charos. A quiet village that mostly kept to their own business. As the party entered town, a girl was leaving, looking pale in the face. From in the town, a man cried as he was shuffled back into his home, comforted by his companions. "That's strange..." Aylia mused to herself, but didn't give it much thought, people sometimes tended to be irrational. Instead, she looked around for the nearest store, or some rich clueless nobel to "borrow from". As she looked around at the people going to and fro on the roads, she couldn't help but have a strange feeling that something was.... out of place.... something was wrong. |
"What do your instincts tell you, Aylia?"
Artemis pulled his cloak tighter around himself. He wasn't much good at reading people, but he could tell something had spooked her. Then he decided to take some initiative, and he walekd up to the pale-faced girl. 'What's wrong, missy?" |
Nighteyes tried to get a sense of what everyone in town was feeling. He felt an overwhelming sense of loss and remorse.
NE[what do you think happened here?] DF[I don't know, but whatever happened it wasn't good] |
Antoninus as soon as he stepped into town was recognized as a healer by the emblem on his bag.
He moved quickly before he'd get mobbed toward the herb market. |
Paige decided to not get involved with any of the petty squabbling, so didn't say much the previous night. However, when she entered the town she raised her guard a little. "Something is strange here."
|
"Very strange," Wen said in reply to Paige's comment. "There is something... not right about the people. I suggest we leave this place very quickly." He then began to walk toward the center of the town, breaking away from the others slightly. "I'll wait for you all to conclude whatever business is necessary at the local source of water."
'I feel safer there,' he did not say. He didn't like the looks of this town and had a feeling something bad was going to happen. When it did, he wanted to be surrounded by as much of his element as possible. Controlling existing water was much easier than creating it, allowing him to put more of his concentration into power and finesse. |
Marc could tell that all of his comrades-in-arms felt something was wrong, just as he did. He moved over to Aylia. "Look. I know that the two of us don't normally get along, but something is seriously wrong here. Maybe we should check around town and see if we can find something out..."
Damn it! I have to rely on her for this. Why her out of all people? |
Antoninus found a dark alley lined with carts of roots and leaves. He looked over the selection and made some purchases.
|
Aylia glanced at Marc, sharing the same feelings of apprehension that everyone was appearantly feeling. She glanced around. The town looked normal enough; a man stood caring for the outside of his store. Another man watched as two small children played. But there was just some... feeling... over the town. Like some sadness that just wafed in the air.
"Maybe we should ask around." She glanced around the town, "Maybe the village elder would be able to tell us..." She suggested, heading towards the big house in the center of town, hoping to get some information. |
"That sounds like a good idea." Nate followed Aylia toward the buillding, meanwhile looking around at the townspeople, trying to read their faces for anything that give them a few clues as to what was going on. "Jeez, it feels like someone important around here died, or something..."
