Sword-Chucks of Doom in Everquest2

Hey all,

I'm new to this forum. I've been reading the comic for over a year now and spend several hours each day returning to the site hoping for the next fix for my addiction. But I have another addiction...I call it...Evercrack. And like many EQ players I recently went over to EQ2. My wife and I were playing our evil Dark Elf/ Iksar duo running errands in Freeport(the evil town) for cash, rotting chunks of old armor and xp. All of a sudden we ran into a quest that ledt me in stitches. I went to run a simple errand from a blacksmith in Scale Yard (The suburb of Freeport that houses Iksar and Barbarians) to let some guy know his "special weapon" was ready. Then I looked at the quest title in my journal and nearly fell over when I see the title "Sword-Chucks of Doom". Apparently 8-bit theatre has some fans at SOE headquarters.

Now, being new to the forums I don't know if this was already brought up of not, but I figured it was worth a mention. I got some great screenpics which I emailed to the guy in charge here, if anyone wants to host them and post them on the forum I'll email them to you, there is no photo editing what-so-ever. Feel free to go to Scale Yard and check it out.

Walker

Hmm... sword chucks is the intellectual property of the creator of 8-bit theatre, and everquest OBVIOUSLY profits from its game, whereas 8-bit has to make profits elsewhere (we dont pay to read the comic, therefore its non-profit)

Everquest is creating copyright infringement by having this? Or do they have express permission? Its a big company, so you know they will just claim they own the rights to the weapon and had the idea long ago, but still... have you even contacted them about stealing your intellectual property? *points to all the copyright information at the bottom of every comic* unless they can prove they thought of it before you

Feh, I don't care. No one's playing EQ2 just to watch some barbarian mention swordchucks. They're not making a dime off my idea.

True... but isn't that sort of like Thief and his super ultra fine print? You could get a quarter for every time someone does that quest. That could add up to a lot of quarters!

I guarantee they'd take it out of the game before Brian would see any money. Worse, whichever programmer put that homage to 8-bit into the game might lose his job. Brian's got the right of it - leave well enough alone.

But it is funny :)

But it's great to get some free publicity...now if they'd only add the graphic for them into the game... My Dark Elf Crusader would love a pair of them.

They should've named the barbarian Brian Clevinger.
