Parents finding your things you dont want them to find
Have you ever been caught with something you shouldn;t have by your parents? In particular, have they gone on your computer, and found something they didn't really need to see and bring it up in an awkward family situation? Because I had a halloween party and I thought it would be fun to break out the digi camera, and when a drunken 18 year old and many of his friends get a camera on halloween, the holiday where girls are allowed to dress as skankily as possible without getting called skanks, and when everyone pumps themselves full of alcohol, bad pictures are taken. Well my mom decided to look at my picture folder, and over family dinner she described to my aunt some rather embarassing photos of me, which I didnt even remember so I couldnt defend myself.
Any similar computer or non-computer related stories to yoru parents finding out bad things about you? p.s. Can you put a password on folders in windows XP with some sort of software, I know you cant just regularly do it. |

The worse part of it is when they actually do the hunting, expecting to find something out of it. To my benefit, my parents are inepts when it comes to computers, so I'm clear on that field.
However, they love to completly scan everything in my room (my mother, mostly). And I do mean everything. Like that love letter that's suppose to stay hidden because you know exactly where you left it. Yes, I mean that one in particular. Grr... I hate it when they move it to another place or read it. That's why my room is always under lock. :) |
My parents once found a keg in my closet. The thing is, it wasn't mine.
If you have siblings, get them in trouble before they screw you first. You don't want to be labeled the trouble-maker. |
I've found my parents' pot stash. I'm still trying to figure a way to take revenge for all those years of embarassing findings...

If you can roll cigarettes, that problem is halfway solved.

Ehhh when my brother moved off to college we moved his stuff to another room. Now at the time my brother was 19, but when emptying out his dressers my mom stumbled upon his copy of the kama sutra, and tried to keep me from noticing she had it by throwing it to the bottom of a box.

Ahhh... Yes, I CAN explain the stylish katana in the corner, the skinning knife on my desk, the claymore under my bed, AND the list of IP-traces and home-addresses tucked under the mattress.....but I won't.
:fighter: Overkill much? Shiney object, my friend. Shiney object!! :fighter: Dibs! Mine! I saw it first! |
I'm 18 now, so my parents stopped paying as much attention. But last year, and the year before, they used to watch me like a hawk. My mom is pentecostal, so she's against makeup, pants, short skirts, jewelry, and various other things. One time, she went in my room and found a bunch of jewelry, a lil bit of makeup, and a pair of pants, and freaked out on me. She's not so bad anymore, and lets me make a lot more of my own descisions. But yeah, she's found a lot of stuff she didn't like in my and my brothers rooms.
It was worse for him though. He's 5 years older, so had to almost break my parents in. One time, my mom found his JTHM maniac book when he was like, 16. She read it and freaked out on him, and threw it away. Now, I have JTHM and squee books sitting in my bookcase. I'm a lot more open with stuff, and she seems alright with it. I think she's losening up some. If she threw away my books or my stuff now, i'd just move out. I think she realizes that. I need to password protect my computer. I have way to many conversations saved and pictures and stuff that they would hate if they ever decided to snoop. |
Good thing that my parents are computer illiterate. And I already have a password on there just in case my uncle comes along.
But they have found stuff in my room that I didn't want them to see. I wish they would put a little more trust in me... oh well, I got locks. |
