Calling all weapon masters!

Viewing this thread could mean one of three things:

:fighter: You consider yourself blessed with vast knowledge on weapons of any kind.
:fighter: Are curious about what's within this thread.
:fighter: You are very bored and have nothing to do, and this thread caught your attention.

Either option is welcomed here.

Anyway, I myself consider myself a connoisseur of non-gunfire weapons, my specialty being swords and all kind of blade weapons.

However, there's something that's been bugging me, and I haven't been able to answer, though I've looked it up and searched for help. Anyone out there knows the concept of "Bastard Sword"?

I do not know (though I've heard of it), what this is exactly. If someone could provide a clear, real, and helpful information of what this weapon is, I'll be forever grateful for being enlightened by their knowledge.

I love the adaptability of the keyblade, just attach any keychain, and "WHAM!" completely different weapon.

*looks around*

"what? i didn't play kh for too long, maxing out the time bar is perfectly normal"

Bastard Swords are essentially longswords, with grips large enough to accomadate two hands if necessary, giving it more power in a swing. It wasn't quite a greatsword, nor a longsword. Thus, it was a bastard of swords.

All I know of the "Bastard sword" is that it was in the UT mod: "ChaosUT"

I would say I was a pistol/sniper expert. When using pistols, I'ld probably use Akimbo Socom MK23's. For Snipers, I would use AWP.

Well, I've never used a sword in my life, or a gun, or a spear, etc., so my knowledge of weapons is very limited.

But I prefer blunt objects. Hammers, 2x4's, golf clubs, anything that can be used to render somebody unconscious.

But such a thing is pointless, as I find it hard to actually hurt somebody.

Maybe this will answer your question? It's the best I could do, I hope it helps.

Indeed, a sword the could be either one or two handed, as has been said above... I was also under the impression that they were of varying lengths too, like, there wasn't a 'standard' size for one. Dunno where I got that idea though...

Oh, and I consider myself bored and curious, with a little hint of knowledge.

Zweihander, BlackMageGirl!, Aeria, everyone...

I humbly thank you all for this information. From what I've understood on this thread, I can conclude that:

Bastard Sword - A type or European weapon, which was able to be used single or double handed, with a hilt slightly larger than average length. The blade was around a meter or less long, and the composition of it made it an all rounded weapon. Used through 1000 to 1500 AD. Neither a great nor long sword, it fell under a category of its own.

If this is wrong, or think you could provide a better definition, do please let me know. :)

A bastard sword is also known as a Hand and a Half sword, in case you go looking for one, and for some strange reason can't find it under "Bastard Sword".

Never used a blade in my life either, except a machete, and that wasn't on a living thing (plant, but you know what I mean...).

I do find that I have a strange way to use a weight bar as a staff though. (4 pound metal weight bar. Semi-hefty for something so light) Does a good job of knocking things down though. Then again, swinging it like a warrior with a greatsword would do that. (Except I remove my 2nd hand during the swing). Anyway, hope the first part helped you in some way.

*points up* Yeah, I like swords. Also, daggers are fun. One in each hand, holding one upside down, yeah...

BTW:I seem to recal Bastard Swords being longer than longswords but thats aboot all I know on the subject.
