The 8-Bit Theater challenge!
 

I'm playing through FF1 again...(On Playstation...I know it's not the same...)

But I thought I'd make it a bit more interesting. So I gave myself a challenge. Try it yourself if you like...

Play through FF1 with the party: fighter thief rmage bmage ...Just them...no class change...F T RM BM...not Knight, Ninja, Red Wiz and Black Wiz...sound tough?...well, not really...not until the end anyway. It was a bit tedious leveling up in the Floating castle...can't level up in the ToF since you can't use Exit or Warp. Without the class change, it's tough. I needed to be level 46 just to reach Chaos with the group of 4. Fighter was the only one who could still hit worth a damn...

But that's only HALF of the challenge...

Since :bbelt: and :wmage: are supposedley following behind helping the Light Warriors, on the next playthrough, kill off two random chars right away, leaving a 2-person party of :bbelt: and :wmage: Then beat the game with those two.


I'm playing through now with bbelt and wmage ...Boy is it hard. I'm at Melmond with the two at level 13. It'll be cake when I'm around lev. 30...BB's fists of fury will be smashing any and all monsters by then. but how to stay alive until then...? Before Elfland I was getting killed by parties of GrImps/Goblin Guards...

Anyway, the first part doesn't sound bad, but the second part seems pretty brutal. Then again, you do have WM healing, and BB is the best charectar in the game when he gets to high levels (except for the class changed version of him, which you obviously can't get).

Good luck with it, I would try, but it seems too tedious. Good concept too.

Have you tried the all White Mage party? It's tough.

Have you tried it with all fighters? Truly it's harder then it sounds. Fighters are like blackbelts but are only better when you have the money to equip them. And no one can heal.

And besides, I beat the game with the 8-bit setup anyway. I though it was a cool list of people. No white mage included, neat idea.

O_o 4 fighters=hard? I tried that once and completely raped the game w/ sheer physical attakcs. Fighters own.

I think the hardest one that I've heard of is the single white mage challenge. I think that's the hardest of them all.

I would argue that single Black Mages would be a lot harder if not impossible. Sure he could blast anything to tiny smoldering bits but leveling him up to that point would take forever. Plus you would have to wait until Elfland to get attack all spells.

But you can learn effective attack spells early, and Black Mage is stronger physically than White Mage.

Bleh! Try a single thief challenge (ITS POSSIBLE) without the class change (I REPEAT! THIS IS POSSIBLE IF YOU DO THE STRENGTH LEVEL UP TRICK)

Right now, I'm doing a :rmage: only game (Level 48 at earth cave, can you say no life?)

Even so, BM can't just heal himself whenever he's near death(unless you have plenty of potions)... and it's a pretty well known fact that his defense is horrible at best...

Though WM doesn't have the attack power... well... besides her holy-type spells.. and that hammer can be rather ruthless sometimes.
