Dream Come True
Ok, I'm not generally in the habit of posting topics about myself, but I thought other geeks would appreciate this.
I was signed up for a class next block (We have a wierd block system, don't ask) called Topics: The Adventurer in Literature in Film, which sounded pretty cool. In the scool's e-mail newsletter today, they said they'd changed the class. Guess what they changed it to? The Quest in Literature and Film: J.R.R. Tolkien's LORD OF THE RINGS. I get to read (and watch!) the Lord of the Rings for school. I'm as giddy as a little schoolboy. It's a geek's dream come true. Today is a good day. |
You'll also be learning about the hero's journey. Which means that you'll also probably be reading some stuff by Joseph Campbell.

Awesome! I wish I could get into that. You really lucked out!

Wanna have some film fun? Take a Sci-Fi class in college. You never had so much fun with class in your life.
|
I'm taking a Comp Lit class that focuses on myths and legends. My professor is using this as in excuse to show all of the original (that is, the good) Star Wars movies. It's no LotR, but I'll take what I can get.
|
We watch Family Guy off and on in my highschool pysch class. Kudos to you though.
|
LOTR in class?! Lucky.
We don't get quite that good, but we will get to watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail in my Brit. Lit. class due to all the King Arthur stuff we're reading. Not as good as all three LOTR movies, but I'll take it! |
Maybe your lucky and maybe your not...
I had the same kind of thing happen to me but the teacher was a fuggin moron. She didnt know half the characters names and she brutally murdered the poem of the ring. With a chainsaw. I never thought i would have to say this but I was glad when there was no more LotR |
