Metroid: Recon (Signup)
a Federation scout ship, upon entering orbit around the Planet Terrus III, was destroyed. the last shots before communications cut off revealed an orbital defense platform of the design used by Space Pirates.
the Federation would have preferred to send the legendary Bounty Hunter Samus Aran, but all communications with her gunship ceased over the orbit of Tallon IV (Read: this takes place during Metroid Prime, folks). Therefore, a unit of Federation stealth marines are to be dropped onto the planet to discover the nature of this base, and destroy it. a group of three cruisers will jump into orbit around the planet and engage all it's defenses to draw all possible attention to themselves. a group of orbital insertion pods will be fired onto the surface, containing the Units. Primary Objective: Destroy the base. Secondary Objectives: ascertain it's purpose, and, if possible, discover the coordinates of any other Space Pirate Bases. *** Ok, to give this (My first RP) a bit of special flare, some people will be the Marines, but OTHERS will be Space Pirates. the basic specs are so: Marines: Stealth Units. ~Exo Armor - strengthened alloy body armor. it was first based on Samus Aran's Power Armor, but any similarities are completely gone. thrusters on back and heels. this is the Stealth type, and therefore sacrifices durability for maneuverability. has added thermal imaging and zoom-in. limited energy shields. ~Repeater rifle - energy based blaster. it's attatched to the preferred arm of the Unit's armor. when not in use, it slides back to a position where it won't hinder the suit's gloves. either fires as a silenced single burst or rapid fire. ~Laser Blade - just behind the wrist, extends to .5 meters at the touch of a button. can cut most things, but gets caught up on Space-Pirate Exoskeletons. ~Optical Camoflage - somewhat more advanced then the Shadow Pirate technology. when engaged, they are completely invisible. however, can't be used while using rapid fire option on the rifle. Pirates: Warriors. ~Exoskeleton - centuries of evolution have given the Space Pirates incredibly durable epidermis, to the point that it can withstand multiple direct hits from military-grade blasters. Space Pirates can jump incredibly high and can cling to walls and ceilings with their talons. ~Wrist-mounted cannon - triggered by subtle wrist movements that only a Space Pirate can make, it focuses high-power energy into rapid blasts. not incredibly accurate, however. ~Wrist Scythe - combination of shaped force-fields and concentrated energy, the Wrist-scythe is a deadly meelee weapon that can kill anything. is hindered by energy shields. ok. when you sign up, you can have one or two unique weapons for yourself (EX grenades and such). Name: Age: Pirate/Marine Sex: Appearance (Marines-Under armor, Pirates-defining features (tatoos piercings etc)) Unique Weapons: Bio: ok, here's My Bio. Name: Alex Desiato Age: 24 Marine Sex: Male Appearance: short Black hair, green eyes. light skin, but not pale. Unique Weapons: laser-activated wall mines, Tangle-web pistol Bio: Entered the Academy at the earliest legal age. a native of one of the colony worlds, he'd heard stories of Space pirates ravaging planets for supplies, and had done his best to get into the academy to help stop them. formerly an Idealist, he takes a bit mor realistic view of things. always puts things in a good light, no matter how bad the situation. just to note: nobody is a leader of any group, just people working together. |
hm... sounds interesting. i'll give it a go.
Name: Timothy Bales Age: 20 Marine Appearance: military-cut brown hair, blue eyes, very tanned. Unique Equipment: (are these ok?) Flamethrower, Flash Bomb (Blinds for 2-6 seconds, depending on range/recovery, marine suits are designed counter this by blinding for only the split-second its activated, seeming to only be a blink to the marine.), Camoflauge extended over laser blade (allows blade to be camoflauged until a strike is made, then takes 2-5 seconds without use to recharge camoflauge, based on many factors. Only real use is to sneak by hostile enemies/cameras with blade out, negating any time it takes to load it.) Bio: A regular kid who always looked up to Samus Aran, Tim decided to become a mercenary. That didn't turn out too well, cause he pretty much sucked at the solo deal. So he joined the marines, in hopes to one day meet with Samus. He was an expert at stealth and fencing, so he made an odd choice for a right hander; he put his gun on his left hand and sword on his right. Tim hates long-range combat, so he usually walks up to close range with camoflauge then has at his foes with his sword. If that fails, he just uses his fancy swordplay to distract his enemy long enough for his allies to kill it. He is horrible with a blaster, and only really uses it when he has no other choice. Unless he can stop moving and concentrate long enough to lock on, or just get up to point blank range, he usually has less than 10% accuracy. If he were using a right handed blaster this wouldn't be the case, but he needs his sword there instead. Edit: Fixing some typos and horrible grammatical errors. |
I'd be interested in joining as a Space Pirate character. That would mean the Space Pirate characters are outnumbered two to one instead of infinity to one. Of course, knowing the Space Pirates, they're probably doing something in their base. Could you give me some hint of what it is? (PM me if you want it to be kept a secret for now) That would help me get ideas for the character.

I don't have a lot of information on Space Pirates but using my broad imagination, I was at least able to come up with something.
Name: Drek'nohl Age: 32 Occupation: Space Pirate Sex: Male Appearance Height: 6' 5" Weight: 187 Markings: None Dress and Appearance: Drek'nohl resembles just about every other Space Pirate except for one unique feature. This would be the second head that he has due to a mutation in early adolescence due to over-exposure to Phazon. The second head is fully functional and covers areas of view that the right head doesn't. This gives Drek'nohl a very broad range of perception. Unique Weapons Energy Rifle - A powerful weapon issued to trusted Space Pirates who patrol areas which require higher security, such as Metroid kennels. The rifle has potential similar to Samus Aran's own Power Beam. The rifle was designed more for long distance combat, and the usual tactic for it is to keep the enemy from advancing into classified areas. Frost Shot - A slow charging weapon that shoots a round capable of locking small (your average domestic house cat) to medium-sized (your average adult human) life forms in cold stasis where they can then be transported to detention areas or destroyed by obliterating the frozen entity. Bio: Drek'nohl is your common Space Pirate, who does his job competently as a patroller and convoy guard. He's one of the rare few to survive a Metroid attack, but that was mostly thanks to his Frost Shot and a little luck with the aiming. He has access to a lot of things and his patrol zones are wide and varied. |
ohh, sounds like fun
Name: Thak'nor Age: 68 Sex: male Space pirate Appearance: well, since this takes place during metriod prime, think Plasma Trooper, the red ones. He is an older warrior, so a bit larger than other space pirate warriors Unique equipment: Well, after some chemical treatment, he grew a second wrist scythe. he also has a plasma gun. Bio: Thak'nor has fought The Hunter many times, and barely escaped with his life every time. Now, as higher rank, he's stuck at a pirate base doing training for new recruits. the only thing he wants is to go back into action again... |
pretty good so far, but we need a few more marines if this ratio of pirate>marine continues.

Looks like we might have some Phazon mutants on the Space Pirate side. That's a nice explanation for a second head. Yum, Phazon.
Does anyone have any idea how long a deca-cycle is by the way? Space Pirates seem to use it as a unit of time. I think its either ten days, ten months or ten years. Seeing how they talk about ration cuts for a deca-cycle but also becoming dominant in the sector within that period of time, its hard to say. Name: Skir'thax Age: 28 Occupation: Space Pirate Sex: Male Appearance: It is usually quite difficult for non-Space Pirates to tell Space Pirates apart. There are differences though. Skir'thax is a little taller than normal Space Pirates and he has very dark, slightly iridescent blue markings on his carapace - a little reminiscent of tiger stripes. Non Space Pirates are more likely to recognise him by his unique equipment and the mark of rank he has on his battle harness. Unique Weapons: Skir'thax wields an experimental Wave Beam prototype that also possesses the Charge Beam capacity in the place of the standard galvanic acclerator cannon. Science Team released it to him for field testing. He also possesses an Energy Siphon but due to it's energy requirements he can not fire while using it and can only employ it for limited periods of time. Bio: Skir'thax is young, agressive, ambitious and ruthless. Of course, these traits are typical in Space Pirates but he seems to have an extra reserve of determination and sheer bloodymindedness that helps him achieve his goals. He is a meticulous planner and shows no remorse at what he deems necessary sacrifices. He is loath to sacrifice anything needlessly however. Skir'thax had appled to be moved to the Tallon IV secondary headquarters but was instead moved here. He is of moderately high rank. Another trait that sets him apart is his tendency to show more than usual care for his underlings. The logic is simple, a well handled individual will work more better and it is inefficient to mistreat them. Like all Space Pirates, he dreams of being the one to take down the Hunter but he has no delusions of his capabilities and knows that at present he would almost certainly lose. |
I figured a cycle is a standard week, Deca-cycle is ten weeks. it seems to work out the best.
oh yeah, KI - Wrist scythes aren't biological, they're equipment. you could still say he was authorized to use a second one, though. |
Would any of the space pirates mind being Tim's nemesis? Like in one of the first encounters they face off, dealing a scar or two to eachother, and then remember eachother as their sworn enemy? Although pirates have problems telling the difference between humans and visa versa, these two nemesises would be able to single out the other in a group, and usually would target them for the first attack.
Anybody wanna do it? Just be the first to post and we can PM eachother about it when it gets to our first encounter in the storyline. |
...it'd be kinda hard for a pirate to give Tim a scar, what with the body armor and all.
