I don't like to be bothered unesscessarily. If people have a good reason then I don't mind, but if not I tend to get annoyed.

What's wrong with three question marks??? Seriously though, I sometimes use multiple questionmarks for emphasis. But I don't alwas use 'em.

Another pet peave...people who try to use big words when the speak, but can't actually pronounce them. Or someone who is constantly asking "How do you spell..." Use a dictionary idiot!!!!!!!!

Meister 12-07-2004 04:48 AM

Emphasis, yes. "Hi, what are you doing tonight???", no.

This has always kind of annoyed me.

I mean...seriously. How am I suppose to look it up in a dictionary if I don't know who to spell it?

Very simple. I mean you should have a rough understanding of ho the word should be spelled just using simple phonetics. So let's take the word Technology. To begin with you should know that it begins with a T. So we will flip over to the Ts. Now it should be simple to figure that the second letter is an E because that is the only letter that makes that sound. So we flip through till we find words beginning with Te. Now comes the tricky part. we know that the next lett is going to be either a c or a k, well c comes first alphabetically so we will start looking at words that begin with TEC. Now since there are three ways that C can make the sound we are looking for (C, CK, or CH) we have to figure out which one. And we know that the next sound is going to be an N sound so we are going to look through the words in this order TECH, TECK, TECN. Well we get to TECH and we find a word Technology. Now this looks like it might be our word, so we read the definition and sure enough it's our word.

Now I don't expect a kid K-2 to know enogh about the English language to do this, but anyone older should. Basically just by hearing a word you should have a rough idea of how it's spelled and can from there find the correct spelling. And you actually learn something in the process, because if I just tell you how to spell the word, next time you need to use it, you'll probably have forgotten.

I'm starting to get irritated by people whose signatures are far larger than their average post size. That's a lot of people on here, unfortunately. I understand if someone has a lot they want to share about themselves in their sig, but maybe they could just rotate the contents every once in a while rather than dumping it all at once. Or, preferably, say more than one line. Or maybe not show the sig in very short posts. It's just hard for me to focus on their post when it is overwhelmed by the flood of slogans below.

I bet I just irritated a lot of people with this, but meh, it's the truth.

Yeah, I have to agree. If people had alot to say, that really doesn't bother me. But what gets on my nerves is the way people make the text in their signatures HUGE. The bigger a piece of text is, the less seriously I take it.

What's on this page is okay to me. But some people have like ten lines of text in their sigs, which makes it hard to read the thread.

People who sneeze like sissies.

Seriously, I have no idea why this bugs me so much, but it does.

You know what I mean. You're sitting next to someone, and they kind of squeak. You turn and ask, "What was that?" And they say, "I sneezed."

Sneeze? A sneeze is supposed to do something for you. It's your body clearing out your airways. That was a squeak, not a sneeze! When you sneeze, mean it!

But, this is probably because when I sneeze, I just cut loose and let it fly. My sisters say that when I sneeze it changes the air pressure in the room and makes their heads hurt.

I personally, think that I sneeze too loud. I annoy quite afew people. Maby you're one of the ones who wouldn't.

People also think I shiver weird. It's more like a small spasm for me followed by sucking in air to make a hissing sound. When I write it down, it does sound kinda weird but it's natural for me.

Biggest peeve: Annoying laughs. This is a really big problem, as I spend most of my time hanging around geeks. Something about a sound similar to that of an asphixiating donkey on crack really bugs me.

Smaller peeve: Insubordination. This applies mostly to my little brother, whose face I often want to break because he's such a twit.

Regular-sized peeve: Grammar and spelling. Whenever I see a poorly written paper/post/typed/written thing I need to fix it or I'll get face cancer. Needless to say, I've gotten face cancer many, many times before.
