Killographic!
 

Apparently they've now invented a whole new word for the violent scenes and actions in videogames: killographic or killography. I really don't even know how to respond to this. Apparently graphic depictions of violence was too much writing for them. Or perhaps 'violence' just didn't conjur up the view that they wanted so they decided to take pornographic, and replace the porn with kill (yes, that is what they did, see the link). Although... I must admit that on some level I kind of like it. It's an amusing word... and I can hardly wait for next christmas when I can tell my mother I want a 'killographic' game.

I couldn't believe it when I read about it in today's Penny Arcade and I still can't. The lengths some people will go to to avoid having to actually parent their damn children while punishing the rest of us for their laziness.

Did at some point after I turned 15 the world decide that watching over one's own children was a bad idea? And that scaremongering was somehow better? Next they'll try to point to this stuff as supporting terrorism. It may get as ridiculous as those billboards I used to see driving through southern Missouri on the way to campgrounds with a small child reading that says "pornography kills." Made me want to vomit. Soon they'll have Mario with blood on his mouth and a machine gun standing on an American flag.

Man, where have all the smileographic games gone? Or the singalongographic. Those are the titles I want to play.

killographic. Very powerful and very precise. It has 'kill' and 'graphic' in it. Well, I suggest we put a stop to this word the only way I can think of: Overuse it until people get tired of it. For example,

That car is KILL-O-GRAPHIC(TM)!
Yo mamma's so fat, she's killographic!

To help this along, I believe we should also say 'Killographizzle.'

See, the word "pornographic" at least has that uppity "I'm a big stern churchman with good diction" sort of ring to it, while "killographic" has TV buzzword for slackjaw written all over it. It's the equivalent of if they were to call a hair dryer the "Blow-o-matic". They really could have slapped together something more uppity and technical sounding if they wanted a word to damn video games with.

How's about "Homicidogeny" or "depravenopoly" or "violentocratic"... Well, those words suck too, but they shouldn't use a word like "killographic" because it sounds stupid.

That is true. They've had bad luck with that, however as when they would call homosexuality "decadent," I'd start thinking about food and then go eat some delicious cake, completely oblivious to their 18th-century ramblings. Man I love cake. Gonna go have a fag and then eat some cake... good times!

I'm with Devon on the naming thing. Killographic sounds too much like 1000 pictures.

Yes. The word isn't even good... it sounds, as was pointed out a few times, more like a buzz word. Like the next generations favorite slang... actually I can see that happening as that most of this coming generation enjoys violence so much, killographic games will be another word for good games. And then killographic will just mean good period. And soon, you'll have things like "That babe has some killographic curves!" or "Damn, man, that is one killographic computer..." I'm changing my signature right now to reflect that.

Ah... they're stupid enough to come up with a new word in the first place... and then they make it a horrible one too. Like they didn't prove themselves failures of evolution enough in the first place, they had to fail further.

I, however, AM looking forward to having this conversation next year around christmas.
"What do you want for christmas this year, honey?"

"Anything killographic."

Please note that 8/10 of these games are rated Mature. They're not meant for children, so this shouldn't even be an issue. Would you buy Pulp Fiction for your 10-year old? No. So, why would you even consider buying something like Postal 2 or Backyard Wrestling for the little guy (Those games suck anyway). I know it's been said before, but I say it's about time that parents began taking a more active role in their children's lives. I mean, they should at least learn about the games they're buying for their children. I'm getting tired of seeing these experiments on the effects of 'killographic' games on the mind of a child when THEY AREN'T EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYING THEM. Seriously, it's just a waste of time and money in the end. So, I think it's about time all this BS ended so all of us could play our games in peace. Oh, and any parent that buys Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball is either completely ignorant or very sick.
