PS2 Must Haves
So, i'm curious. It's been 4 years or so i think since the PS2 was released...what do you guys consider some of the "must haves" from the system's lifetime, from beginning to new releases? Most of the new stuff for this year is released too, so i figure this would be a good time. Plus, i'm pretty sure i'm going to finally shell out for a PS2 after christmas this year, and i'm curious about what games I should look into.

Final Fantasy X (Rikku!)
Final Fantasy X-2 (Yuna!) Grand Theft Auto 3 (Guns!) Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Helicopters!) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Lawnmowers!) That's all I can think of. |
Dynasty warriors series
James Bond Nightfire Starwars battlefront I guess this marks my return to forum-dom |
Another Lister...
Alright, the must haves are: Ico Katamari Damacy Disgaea Amplitude DDR (max or max2 or ultra-whatever) Contra: Shattered Soldier Shin Magami Tensei: Nocturne Megaman Anniversary Collection GitarooMan If you disagree with me, then you're wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong. |
Someone else likes Ico besides I? *gasp shock surprised* You rock! And for my list...
Chaos Legion Phantom Brave Crazy Taxi, one or two Burnout 2 (Completel Awesomeness!) Oh, and DDR is good stuff when you get the home DDR pad. Preferably the foam one, because the thin plastic ones break too easily. |
Its funny....most of what I play on my PS2 are PS1 games. So, I really don't know what are must haves.
I'd probably say, for games that kept me happy and are only PS2: Suikoden III FFX Zone of the Enders II DOA2 (if you have no XBOX or want PS2 version) GTA: Vice City (if you have no XBOX or want PS2 version) Capcom vs SNK 2 (if you don't want either of the other console versions) That's about it for what I've played and really liked. The rest are all PS1 games... |
Devil May Cry
Metal Gear Solid 2 Viewtiful Joe War of The Monsters Everything else I can think of has already been said Disgaea Shin Megami Tensei:Nocturne Phantom Brave |
I'd say at least get one of the Jak (& Daxter) games). The first one had the best mix of platformer goodness, Jak 2 had the best storyline, and Jak 3 is a pretty fair mix of the two, but by no means superior to either.
On the down side, Jak 1 didn't have much of a storyline, Jak 2 is near impossible to complete and Jak 3 just has too many vehicle based missions, and foot based missions tend to be too short. Still, by far the best series of platformer games ever, and well worth a purchase. SWK - And unless I'm mistaken, Viewtiful Joe is a Game Cube only game, isn't it? Or was it re-released? |
In no order:
Viewtiful Joe SMT: Nocturne Star Ocean 3 Gradius V (Get it now. It's just that damn good) Guilty Gear XX Either Dynasty Warriors 3, Dynasty Warriors: Japan (Samurai Warriors), or Dynasty Warriors 4 Devil May Cry FFX-2 if you play your RPGs solely for gameplay R.A.D. Suikoden IV (Pending) |
PS2 must haves huh?
La Pucelle Tactics Soul Caliber II Legacy of Kain: Defiance |
