I think this is cool

Read the following, no drink required....

I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdgnieg. THE PAOMNNEHAL PWEOR OF THE HMUAN MNID. Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are. The olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh?

I thought this was pretty neat. I always like learning more about how my brain works.

I have heard this many times, still pretty cool.

Everyone and their cat has heard of this... except for Bob. ;)

It's interesting if you try to read the text really quickly. I did it with no porlbems

I guess I was just the last link on the email chain.

Try to read it slow and it requires decoding, but reading it fast you can pick it up easy, except for longer words that are a little more uncommon... I don't hear (Or read) "phenomenal" often enough for m brain to recognize it as fast as, for example, "understand".

Actually, I hadn't heard of this before, myself. That is cool!

BlackMageGirl! 12-04-2004 12:42 AM

Heeeeey...I remember this. Heh, it doesn't matter that I have seen it though. It is still cool no matter how many times you look at it. ^_^

What are you talking about? I use phenomenal in everyday conversation all the time!

Example: "How's it going?" "It's going spifftastically craptacular in the most phenomenal way."

Yeah, reading fast you can comprehend it easily. I guess it's kinda like those things, where if you read it, it makes no sense, but when its read aloud, you know what it actually is. You know, the things that use similar sounding words and sounds? The whatchamacallits?

It reminds me of another type of thing, except its supposed to be harder to read, not easier:
Read the following words in order out loud as fast as you can, then try to say the actual colors of the words as fast as you can (consequtively):

red green blue yellow yellow green blue green red
yellow green red red yellow blue blue blue red red
blue blue green yellow red blue green blue yellow
red blue green yellow green yellow yellow red blue

*sits a while, panting*phew, that took a lot of effort to color every one of those words differently (so much highlighting and clicking). Get your toungue round that canundrum.

Booya!

I have also encountered this particular phenomenon and it is quite interesting indeed.
