Outcast: The Wilderness- Sign Up
Here's the basic idea. This one will take place in a post-appocoliptic setting where a cataclysm has caused magic to apear in the modern age.
Edit: Apearantly, I haven't done a very good job of selling this one to the other role players, so here is a little history of the world you'll be playing in. I hope this helps. In the year, 2020, scientists discovered a meteor swarm in an orbit crossing Earth's. They began calculating if a colision could happen, but the question answered itself when the first one landed in Siberia in 2034. After then, meteors scarred the Earth on and off for over one hundred years. In the wake of the dammage, frayed tempers went mad and war broke out among religious factions, all certain that this was the apocolips, brought upon by the unholy action of all the others. Nuclear war ensued. When all was said and done, the meteor showers over and all the nuclear weapons fired off, all the dieing creatures of Earth let out their psycic energy all at once in a cataclysmic release which caused the release of the dread force which is magic. Along with the release of radiation from the bombs, this caused mutated looking creatures of magic to apear, super natural creatures with super magic powers and the strength braught on from radiated change. Out of the ashes, however, some human survivers banded together against the dangers and founded a city. The city was not named, as it takes two of anything before names are needed, but it prospered on the grassland outside a forest of mutants which do not come into the sun. All the grassland was controled by the city and there, men learned the secrets of magic and psyonics, as well as creating new technologies. After a recemt coup de ta, however, the new rulers frown upon the use of magic and would have mages and psycics as second class citizens. Some people, not satisfied with the way things are, set out through the forest to found a new city, outside the new administration's spheer of influence. That is where you come in. You, as the player, will wander the wilderness, along with a group of friends, in search of an apropriate site. Along the way, other human colonies, and new races never seen on Earth, like the Elves and Orcs, will make themselves known to you, and the mysteries of a new Earth will be revealed. I'll allow the abilities to be reletively freeform, but please limit yourself to the following basic job classes. Soldier- basicly a gun dude. Little magic if any. (every party must have a soldier. The soldiers are the only class with "abilities." This means that they start with moves learned that don't take up skill slots. One of these must be "Wilderness Survival," and the player may choose one more. A magic ability is suggested. The thing that makes abilities different than skills is that they are always on. Skills must be used, but an ability is a skill that never turns off. Keep that in mind when picking your second.) Engeneer- upgrades machinery (guns, vehicles, and moble armor). Little magic if any Pilot- an expert with moble armor and vehicles. little magic if any Cyborg- super strong hand ot hand fighter. no magic or guns unless integrated directly with the body (tech-wizards can infuse them with magic) Psycic- telekenetic, and a semi decent mage. bladed weapons only Wizard- destructive mage. no weapons Sage- healing mage. no weapons Tech-Wizard- enchants machinery, otherwise a wizard, only much less power and a limited ability to use guns. He's the red mage of the group. A player can have five abilities and is awarded more for sucsessfuly completing quests (you'll find out more later). New players can sign up at any time during the game, but you won't get any time to catch up. Background: In spite of her job as a professional stripper, Christy has a strong heart, a pure soul, and a cheerful and loving personality which is noted as very contradictory for the type of work she does. The barkeep, bouncers, and even the regular patrons love her and take extra care of her, believing her to be sensitive and fragile like a flower in perfect bloom. One of the bouncers, Terry, is usually always watching her since she saved his life from a gunshot wound a few months ago. That's perfect, Armored Bishoujo. Just what I was looking for.
There are several ways that this storyline can go. Others will undoughtedly travel the new world, but your character seems better suited to a resistance movement inside the city. I'll run both story lines in the same thread for 50 posts or so and then make a new thread to carry the extra story line. With some luck, that might atract more players. If you can find anyone else who might be interested, please bring them. I can start the rp as soon as we have at least five players. (edit: find someone who is willing to be a soldier, as "wilderness survival" may be relatively important.) (edit 2: also, look at Age of Dwarves and see if you're interested. We're waiting for more people there too.) |

That sounds good Mammothtank. Your character is perfect for the traveling story line. Your party can't leave the city without a soldier though. The soldiers are the wilderness survival specialists. It is my intention to force every group to have at least one soldier so that the class isn't conpleatly ignored.

That's ok for now, I suppose. You still have room for three more skills though. May I suggest "psychic healing" as one and perhaps a magic spell? It might be a long ride on just those two abilities if you chose to wait for the quests.
