You never know; it could play a key part in a match like this...

Patricoo 12-14-2003 08:43 PM

I don't know whats scarier. The 3 of ya arguing so much about this pointless question, or this question, yet so pointless, is a damn good one.

After all this information, I really think it's random. If they could fight and be riencarnated again and again there would be diffrent results. Unfortunatly I bet matches would be quick, not long and Dragonball-Z like. A couple quick shots and Samus would be down. Then one huge blast in the next match and there goes the other.

Dante Reborn 12-14-2003 08:53 PM

With 14 (at least, I'm thinking 14) energy tanks, plus 4 reserve tanks, a few shots won't bring Samus down...

Patricoo 12-14-2003 08:57 PM

No one said those shots were the first shots. And that wasn't my idea...guh...

I know. I just felt like messin' with ya.

i think X has the advantange as far as firepower goes. His X-Buster can charge up to much more powerfull shots than Samus's beam (much larger area of effect, too). and although Samus has devistating weapons such as the Super missile and the Power bomb, X has, what, 8 different weapon systems? not to mention the fact that each weapon has an alternate mode when super-charged.

and this is the quandry that i've had. Samus has the ability, X has the means. the winner of the fight would be whoever had the superior tactics. So ultimately, this question boils down to who's the smarter of the two?

Another point for agility is that Samus can fire in all directions jumping or standing, or at least the 8 primary directions, while X can only fire left and right. Samus could just jump right over X and bombard him with her attacks, and while X has the homing missles, Samus can just use Screw Attack and stay invincible and destroy the missles until X runs out or stops using them, AND while she is invincible in Screw Attack mode she can be inflicting major damage against X with it, while all of X's protection devices make it so if he attacks they wear off.
X can fire in all directions in X7......so there goes that idea......

Krylo 12-15-2003 10:53 AM

The directions that he's firing and the number of shots he can fire are for ease of programming (lazy bastards) and processing speed, not X's actual limitations. If you really think that having 3 shots on the screen at once is HIS limitation (try to explain that in real life terms), or that he actually can't move his arms over his shoulders, then you're an idjit. Now then...

X would win. Samus's screw attacks aren't as invincible as everyone is babbling on about. When she's dropping she's vulnerable, and if she just stays in the air screwing she can't touch him. He can move. His acceleration is INSTANT there's no wait at all. That means she starts to drop at him, and he's half way across the room already... she can't touch him with that attack because of it's limitations, unless he's stupid enough to jump. Also, her suit, as was mentioned, is weak to electrical attacks. It can be momentarily short circuited. It stands to reason that if X charged up one of his electrical attacks he could shoot her while she was doing the screw attack, and although it probably wouldn't do much damage itself, could mess up her suit long enough to knock her out of it. Thus her screw attack is nullified in two ways, which leaves her, mostly, to ground combat, and X absolutely owns her on the ground.

You are forgetting that Samus' regular shots (spazer and plasma) are more powerful that X's regular shots, and Samus can fire faster and charge faster and shoot these through walls. Also, the missiles and super missiles can be fired at rapid speeds, and Samus' only downside would be the limit of missiles and other weaponry. Also, her dash attack goes right through solid rock and allows her to jump far beyond X's reach (if you know how to that is). And as someone brought up, if Samus had the hyper beam at the end of Super Metroid, she would easily own X.

Now for X's side. He has many weapon modes (if we include all the X games) and has a stronger charged shot. Not only that, but he can instantly dash. His 8th armor allows him to make an unblockable and devastating attack, but leaves him vunerable for a moment. If he has the sword like in x6, then he can do multiple close range attacks, which Samus has none of, except the dash attack.

Both are very powerful at full strength, and the results really can't be predicted unless you could find a way for them to actually fight each other.

IHateMakingNames 12-15-2003 03:16 PM

Hyper beam doesn't mean instant win, since X could just charge Chameleon and go invicible, wasting her Hyper Beam shot/s(Don't know how many, but assuming there aren't many)

And in just Megaman X (1), the charged up electric attack covers most of the screen, expect the ground and the very top of the screen, which I don't Samus can reach.
