Red Alert 3?

Was looking through my inbox today, and saw i got an email from EA with the title of Command and Conquer. weary of hidden porn or viruses, i opened it to discover that it was a bulk letter from Mark Skaggs, a VP at EA. apparently, those of us who have bought things from EA/Westwood, are being told about a new C&C game before they go public at the regular sources. heres a paragraph from the letter:

"Having said that, we have a MAJOR announcement to make and we are making it exclusively to our long time C&C fans. This announcement is not going out to the press and it won't appear on the EA website or anywhere else online. We are very proud to announce that the team that brought you Command & Conquer™ Red Alert 2™, Command & Conquer™ Yuri's Revenge™, and Command & Conquer™ Generals has officially started work on our next project set in the Red Alert universe!"

so, i can't say that i'm not excited. anyone else get this letter, or have anything to add?

I am understandably skeptical.

Skeptical... yes.
Eager over a chance to kill more Commie bastards... very.

OUR PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!!!!!!!!!!!
If EA fucks this up, ohhhh boy, blood's gonna spurt....

You know...before, when I heard about Red Alert 2...I was skeptical.

But...now that I know the goodness which is Red Alert 2, I just have two things to say:

1) Yay!
2) Please not a game like Renegade....

I hoe its not a mess up but most of the games I have seen EA make have been pretty good, exspecialy the C&C games. In fortunetly I havent played Yuri's Revenge.
If it is like Renegade hopefully much has been changed.

The only thing I didn't like about Red Alert 2 is that the sides seemed a bit uneven. In Red Alert one, tesla coils were like the hand of god, but they were really weak structurally. In Red Alert two, the allies had an amazing air force, the better of the automatic base defenses, faster chrono miners, a better navy (even though my friends and I decided to play sans-dolphins and squids to kind of even it out). Of all of my online loses, I'd say only 10% were to a Soviet opponent. This tells me that only 1 out of 10 people knows the secret of the soviets or that the allies simply dominated.

I hope the sides are a bit more balanced this time. The soviets could definitely have the better tanks and defenses, but the allies could have air superiority. I like the duality of the naval battles, silent service vs huge floating cannons.

really? see i always played as Soviet, and had really good sucess with them. all of thier units are just so much tougher and can hit harder. i mean, three apoc. tanks with an iron curtan are one of the most annoying tactics in the game. next to an endless suply of demo trucks that is.

SNAFU 12-07-2004 04:27 PM

The Soviets are powerful only if you let them build up. Before they could get their really heavy tanks- I forget their name. I'm guessing something really unoriginal like "Battle Tank"- anyways... before they could get any of that good stuff, I could rain destruction from the skies. If they went straight for air defense, I'd pick off their chrono miners either by air or (if I had them by then) chrono troopers. Even when I'd play as Soviets, it seemed like if the Allied opponent liked air attacks, you were always grossly on the defensive. Perhaps I was just really good at fighting Soviets. I don't know. I only played for a little bit without the Yuri's Revenge patch.

... but I'm getting off topic here. Perhaps we should make a separate thread?
