Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

so i got this on saturday, and i've only managed to stop playing it long enough to go to work and school. I can't tell how far through the game i am, but i just got 60% of the scans and am about halfway through the Torvus Bog.

i have to say, i'm having a wonderful time playing it. its strange, because they've actualy got some new ideas in here with the light and dark beams instead of the traditional wave/ice/plasma.

who else is enjoying this wonderful gift to mankind?

I am. Metroid Prime 2 = teh awesomeness. It's so good that a friend of mine who was waiting to get it broke down and got it about 2 weeks ago, and he's not even that huge of a metroid fan.

As for me, I got it on Nov. 16 (the day before its official release date :D) and played straight through it in about 3 days. Got 100% items and scans. Haven't played the multiplayer yet as I only have 1 controller, but I hope to soon.

I just started on a hard mode game a few days ago. I just got the super missiles and I have around 2 hours on the clock. So far so good. Though I did get embarrassingly pwned by the dark pirate commandos that show up in the room with the first portal in Agon.

Anyway, enough about me. What was the last major item you picked up?

As my sig says, it's sucking up my soul. I can't stop playing it, and I doubt I will for quite a while. Oh well, at least I'm happy with all of the crazy stuff going on.

As for how I'm doing, I've beaten it already, and I'm now trying to get 100%. I have about 92% at the moment, so I'm at the point where it's starting to get annoying. As for scans, I'll have to work on that another time, because I know I forgot stuff, so that's kind of annoying me too.

Other than that, still a great game and I hope Retro can keep up the good work if they make any more.

it is truelly a great game, beat it 100%, got it the day it came out

I only rented it since I am getting it for christmas, atleast my spidey-sence is telling me so.

Once it was returned I was suprised I went through a minor case of with-drawl syndrome. I love it, its even better then the first and thats saying alot. I just wish a 4th beam was added. I only got about 10% of the scans on easy, you know school and less then a week to play. But how do you get light and dark ammo?

Kenryoku_Maxis 12-15-2004 09:06 PM

I haven't played it except the multi-player. However, I have to say that, for an idea thatI thought would just be a gimmicy run around and shoot a couple beams at people, the multi-player game is amazing! Don't know if its because I came in with low expectations or just that it was that fun. Although with things like invisibility, super bombs and the light beam, it gets pretty stupid....

And Invulnerability too. That's just like....they should call it 'you get one free kill' power....

Oh yeah, and it kinda felt like playing GoldenEye again.

Considering you just rented it, I don't really blame you for not getting far enough for it, but the last beam comes in after the last temple's boss.

But how do you get light and dark ammo?
For ammo, you just use the opposite beam type on crates or swarms of enemies (just to make things easy) and you'll hopefully get ammo (for example: dark for light ammo and light for dark ammo).

I just entered the 3 area, and i cant believe how pretty it is. Oh, and does anyone else here that pulsing noise that power-ups give in everyday life?

I haven't played MP2 yet, but that thing about ammo kinda scared me. If using the best beam for the situation gives ammo for the opposite beam, them wouldn't you run out of the needed ammo a lot? I'm still sure I'll enjoy the game, I'm just a little nervous about the loss of my favorite Metroid mechanic: unlimited basic ammo.

This game is awesome. I like how it has a bit more plot than the last Prime, and I like all the new weapons such as the Annihalator Beam and the new suits, and the addition of the Screw Attack.

And the multiplayer feature is a nice addition to those who have beaten the game (like myself) to keep playing.
