OOC: Is it just me, or are the FF7 characters making a lot of seemingly arrogant statements? :p
"hard to kill and they can kill you easily"? "I suggest that you follow what we say, so you don't get yourself hurt or killed. Consider that your fair warning"? IC: "In that case, put the heavily armored warriors in front. Casters, stay back." Palom said evenly, "This thing can't fire needles if it doesn't have any!" He raised his hand to point at the Cactaur, waves of frost crackling between his outspread fingers like bolts of lightning in a thundercloud. |
'Cecil drew his blade and went too the front with his shield up, ready too protect someone if needed'
"you sure that small thing is soo dangerous?" Cecil asked without letting his eyes of the cactuar' OOC: isent cactuars just existing in deserts? |
OOC: "Yeah, I was thinking the creatures would more or less be Kalm Fangs, but Cactuars're cool. They didn't always live in the desert in FFX. I had my first battles with them on the Thunder Plains."
"Need a little fiery assistance, Palom?" Rydia said, her hands clasped in prayer. "Let's go! Ifrit!" Ryida called to the heavens themselves and a ball of flame grew in midair. A form materialized in the flame, one of inhuman musculature, long horns, and black hooves. |
"Nah, I'm doing fine." the Black Wizard grinned, chanting a few words.
A wave of frost laced with thousands of tiny, razor-sharp icicles burst from his fingers, turning moisture in the air into white mist, freezing then shredding the cactaur where it stood, "Kill me easily? Perhaps this cactaur was just weak..." he smirked, identifying the other monsters as Cactaurs too. [edit]OOC: Surprisingly, Cloud thought it was funny how I interpreted his statement as arrogant...then we got into a discussion about possible responses or something. It was funny. |
"Hellfire!" Rydia shouted, and Ifrit rushed forward, waves of flame blazing the enemy in her way. "Ugh!" She said, holding her nose. "Burned cactus smells horrible!"
|
"That it does. Now, we should get moving before too many more come along." With that, Cloud turned and started heading into Midgar. He paused and turned around, looking at them all. "Well? You coming or not? The fate of all our worlds does depend on us! Let's go!"
|
"Yes, yes...just let me finish up." Palom waved a hand in the direction of the sole remaining Cactaur, another blast of icy cold accompanying the motion. Looking over the frost-covered ground, he smiled and shrugged, "Well...practice makes perfect, I guess. Or just better."
[edit] OOC: Forgot Cactaurs were strong against fire...went back and edited all of the Fire spells to Ice. |
OOC: No, this is a RP. If you don't know what that means, leave.
|
OOC: *Smacks n00b a couple times then hits him with a Firaga spell* "Moron!"
IC: Tifa follows Cloud, "This is very nostalgic, huh?" She grabs his hands and leans over whispering, "Remember I'm with you all the way." |
OOC: This is an RP thread. If you have questions, ask in the Discussion thread. And read the rules in the forums next time.
IC: Cloud smiled at Tifa, and whispered back quietly, "I know, Tifa. I do know." Cloud gave Tifa's hand a reassuring squeeze. "Now, let's get going." Hand in hand with Tifa, Cloud walked with her towards Midgar, not caring what the others thought of it. |
Palom considered spoiling the moment...for about a tenth of a second. He kept his mouth shut, unable to restrain a smile as he watched the romance between the two.
|
Rydia was in awe as Midgar drew closer. "Good god, it looks like the city had multiple floors and that the top one totally crashed down on the bottom one. I imagine the people who were promptly crushed when the top floor came down were the lucky ones."
|
Cloud, unfortunately, heard Rydia, and memories came flooding back of AVALANCHE, and their heroic, but failed attempt to save Sector 7 from Shin-Ra. Jesse, Biggs, Wedge...
Cloud's look became cold again, but he didn't look back. "I wouldn't call them lucky. That section you see there was sabotage...but we'll get to that later. Let's go." Cloud started climbing over the rubble to get inside. |
Rydia looked regretful. "My apologies. I just thought that the people killed from the crushing died instantly, without really suffering. This place looked to have gone through this incident a long time ago, yet I can see some areas still burning. We should expect a seriously hazardous adventure here."
|
'Cecil put his sword back into its sheet but kept his shield on, then placed himself so that he could protect the "weaker" ones from attacks from the right flank.
OOC: and by weaker i mean mages and such, you cant say they arent weaker physicaly. |
Tifa began thinking of what happened to her bar, her comrades, and all the others in Sector-7. She almost began to cry, I can't cry now. It's all over and there is more at stake here. She fought back the tears and started to climb.
|
Looking over at Cloud and Tifa, Celes said "I have some idea of how it feels. When Kefka destroyed my world, I lost a lot of friends, and nearly lost more." Then noticing a pair of slightly damaged trucks (By slightly I mean plenty of body damage, but possably runnable) she said "Say, think we could use those for transportation?"
|
"What are they? I've never seen a device like that. I can see wheels so I guess it's like a carriage or something." Rydia said as she stayed with Celes. "I can sort of understand where you're coming from as well. The Red Wings, under the command of Golbez, obliterated a small number of mighty kingdoms, and under the imposter king's orders, Cecil accidently slew my mother and burned down my village. A lot more tragedy would have occured if we didn't stop the Giant of Babel when it was awakened."
|
'Reminded by Rydias words Cecil stoped walking and looked down at the ground'
"im sorry... Rydia, i did not know what was going to happen" Cecil said. |
Looking at Cecil Celes said "Guess we've got a lot in common then." Looking over the trucks Celes thought to herself <I wish Edgar were here. He's good at this sort of thing.>
|
Tifa looked over at the trucks, "Those are vehicles that people use to cross large distances in a short amount of time. I'm sure we could use those." She turned back to the group, "I think everyone here has lost something in order to save their world. That is probably why we fought to save the world, so no one else could experience the same grief."
|
"I didn't lose as much directly, but I spent my entire life training to be a guide. After Zeromus was destroyed, my talents were only useful for dealing with the few remaining monsters. It was a time for healers, not destroyers." Palom said quietly, looking away.
"Everyone just wanted to settle down, forget it ever happened, and get on with life...everyone thought that the darkness was gone, and never coming back. I was considered insane for wanting to improve my magical prowess, no one thought there was any more need for Black Magic." |
'Cecil walked up too Palom'
"you know there will always be need for protectors, and i wouldent be where i am now if it wasnt for you and your sister. I admire you for wanting too continue your prowess and not forget about everything that happened. There will always be need for black magic in our world." |
Cloud went over to the two trucks. Popping up the hood, he took a look over everything, and it seemed to be in working order. Closing the hoods and turning to the group, he said, "They look like they'll run. If you're willing to save some time, get in the back, your choice of which one. I'll drive one, and I think that Tifa should drive the other. We're the ones who know how they work, anyway."
He looked over at Tifa, hoping she didn't mind, and waited for the rest of them to choose which truck they wanted to get in. |
Remaining silent, the Black Wizard hopped into the back of one of the trucks, looking out over the devastated horizon with a faraway look in his eyes.
|
OOC: Let's just call'em red truck and blue truck. Just so no one is confused.
IC: "I guess I'll drive the blue truck. It's been awhile but I think I can manage." She opened the door to the Blue truck and climbed in. This is gonna be a tough one. She gripped the stearing wheel and tried to turn the truck on. "Can you guys believe that someone actually left the keys in these things?" She turned the keys and the truck sounded brand new. |
"Probably abandoned, and whoever was inside didn't have time to take their keys." Palom said distantly.
|
"I will take the blue truck then" Cecil said as he jumped up on the back of the truck.
"there might always be monsters" he added. |
Rydia climbed into the back of the truck Palom didn't, her mind of strategy. "If we are to be chased by monsters, then attacking them with our Black Magic would be the best option of counterattack."
|
"Am I the only one here that knows White magic here?" Celes said, climbing into the red truck.
|
"Yea i guess so. You should ride in the front with either me or Cloud so that you are protected the most when monsters attack." Tifa honked the horn of the truck. "Come on people, it's not like we have all eternity to save the universe."
|
"And if we rush in unprepared, we'll all be slaughtered." Palom shrugged, sitting up in the back of the red truck and leaning against the side.
"If you know anything about what we might be facing, now would be a good time to tell us!" he called out to Cloud. |
"Hey, Just cause I'm able to cast spells doesn't mean I'm not on the front lines doesn't mean I'm not that good in melee. Oh, and just so you know, while I use Runic, avoid casting spells, as my Rune blade will absorb any and all spells used." Celes said, climbing into the cabin. Shifting the sheth around so that she can be able to sit down, she added in "Besides, I hate being babyed, like Jr over there." Celes said the last part with a quick head gesture to Palom.
|
"Can you all stop these age jokes? I'm eighteen. I could understand this when I was a kid, but now it's just ridiculous." Palom sighed, looking away from the rest of the group...and silently wondering what she meant by 'babied'.
I fought just as hard as the rest of them, dammit... his thoughts reflected his mood, more exasperated than angry. |
Cloud sighed inwardly. "Well, there is one major thing you should know about. There's been a rumor flying around that the Midgar Zolom, which is a very very large snake, about 10 meters long, and it has some very interesting powers, that you should be wary of. So, keep an eye out for it, you'll know it if you see it."
Cloud got into the cab of the red truck, and turned the key. The engine purred, then roared. He thought to himself, Amazing. Not only do they still run, they run like they're brand new. |
Vincent hopped onto the back of the Blue truck. If they were pursued by monsters, he could take them out at long range and the black wizard could handle defence for the red truck. He leaned against the side and closed his eyes.
|
Rydia's strands of green hair were swept up by the wind as the trucks started rolling toward's Midgar. She didn't feel right in this place. Granted, it was an order by Lord Bahamut that brought her here, but she felt like she simply didn't belong. Maybe it was the clothes Cloud and Tifa wore. Rydia wondered if she should find clothes like theirs, too.
|
"Stop bickering and just hold tigh until we get there." Tifa drove the blue truck over the vast plains. She looked off to her right and saw some monsters running away. [I]This is so weird and dejavou-ish.[I]

OOC: And now, some backstory and character depth!
IC: Palom looked out over the ruins once more, wondering why he had ever agreed to this in the first place. 'Everyone else here is a hero, destined from birth to save the world...I guess that explains why I'm so disliked. Knowing they see me as just a worthless kid, an inferior, hurts more than their sarcasm ever could... What do I owe them, anyway? Cecil left me as a statue because his task was more important, Rydia was hand-picked by Bahamut for some great task when she was only a little kid...and we used to be almost the same age. She wasn't talked down to or joked about because of her youth! Of course, it IS too much to ask for one of my friends to stick up for me...why waste their precious time on an undestined mage?' Palom shook his head, trying to brush the dark thoughts from his mind. His thoughts stretched back to the celebration after Zeromus was defeated, and Cecil crowned King of Baron. Everyone had seemed so happy, even himself, excited at the salvation of their world...or, almost everyone. 'Despite having atoned for his sins, I don't think they ever really accepted Kain. He knew it, too. I think I understand some of how he felt, now.' Of course, Kain had also been dealing with the fact that the woman he loved was happily married to his best friend. Kain had seemed glad of their success, according to Palom's memories, but at the same time deeply sad. Not participating in the festivities, the Dragoon had kept to himself, and no one had questioned it. 'Perhaps darkness lies in my future, too...Funny, I never would have thought of something like that when I was younger. I felt so much wiser back then, everything seemed to make sense! Now, I'm an unwanted scapegoat on the back of some incomprehensible machine, with no friends, no family, no respect, and no idea where I'm going.' |
OOC: how many posts is allowed?
DB: Seems like Palom has missunderstood a whole lot. |
OOC: 100, FC needs to start the next thread soon.
Omnishadow, if you mean the part about Kain...he always seemed to me as if he was still trying to make up for what he had done in the past, and the others didn't really try to help him with that. Of course, it's open to interpretation, and you might perceive him differently. That doesn't mean I misunderstand Kain, I just have a different perception of him. If you meant the part about being turned into a statue...he recognizes it wasn't Cecil's fault, he's just annoyed that it took so long to turn him back into a person. |
OOC: Hey I didn't say anything about Palom. I haven't really had Tifa make up her mind about any of the others.
|
OOC: As Cloud said earlier, lets keep the all-OOC posts to the discussion thread...we can continue this talk there.
|
OOC: New thread time!!!
|
OOC: Yes, we know...but who's making it?
|
OOC: *grumbles something along the lines of "Trying this again...."
