Bad news

Read above article.

Now, as I read this, I can immediately and effortlessly say now that the movie will suck. Suck hard. The reason is entirely that hollywood loves big explosions and fast paced action, while Splinter Cell revolves around hiding, sneaking, and stealthy take downs. The two will not mix.

Now, this has me wondering one simple question:

Why must hollywood ruin video games? Can't they go back to ruining super-heroes or already established franchises?

...Wasn't there already a thread on the suckiness of video-game movies?

And this is a Tom Clancy property, he might step in or something to save it. Was that seniment sarcastic, you decide.

Well, they're considering a Metroid Movie. Which involves hours of wandering through dark caverns killing monsters and Metroids and involves absolutely no verbal communications with anyone.

So......how does that work as a Movie? Oh right, throw together a 1 hour TALKING script with pleanty of split second action and everything being nothing like a Metroid game....

i dono, it doesnt sound as awful as some ideas.

Cloud Strife 12-19-2004 12:27 AM

Yeah, I'm not likin' the looks of that. Hopefully Tom Clancy'll step in to stop it.

And last I heard, the Metroid movie was going to be put into the hands of the same people that made American Pie. Why do I shudder to think of that? Just imagine...

I like the idea. I think they could pull off a character like Sam Fisher really effectively. The one thing I would really like to see is a Rainbow Six movie, but that'll never happen because the main enemies in the book are environmentalists.

I think that a Splinter Cell Movie might actually not be a bad idea. It's got plenty of action, plot, character development, and character interaction. As long as they don't completely blow it by say, casting Orlando Bloom as Sam Fisher, then this may actually be a video-game movie worth seeing. This is all just speculation, of course. Please don't hurt me...

It's only that Hollywood is ruled by liberals. And these people wouldn't want to feature environmentalists in a bad light.

You know, I liked Rainbow Six... the book.

And Splinter Cell won't be as bad as Sum of All Fears...
