I've heard this also, its full of bugs, that's why meijers only had 5 on the day after thanksgiving

Seems, just like with every Sony product to ever be released, this one both had many bugs and product failures when it launched. So, in all respect to the power of Sony...I'm not surprised if it does. -_-

The unit looks cool and frankly I think it was done as a counter-measure to distance it from XBOX and make it look 'small and portable' like GC, but its still just a PS2 with smaller components and new problems to deal with.

Allegedly. You can probably get one of the older PS2s for less, anyway, so if you need a new system, go with the old version.

The older one also actually lets you play FFXI!

What!?!

So the new playstation CAN'T hook up the HD. Then why the crap would they make it smaller when the HD isn't that old?

Neil-Dog 12-24-2004 10:43 PM

well what i have read and heard is that the slim is internet ready and loads half the time of the old one thats why I am thinking about getting one its just that romur of it over heating that bugs me.

It can't use the HD. I saw it on X-play, they were joking about all the hype about the HD that Sony generated just to drop it.

As for overheating, its possible.

It shouldn't overheat if you have it in normal circumstances.... make sure the vent ports aren't covered up, keep it at room temperature, don't play for, like, ten hour stretches.... The overheating thing comes from people expecting it to do so because it doesn't have a fan, but at it's size, it really doesn't need one under normal circumstances. If you plan to use it in, say, a car... then it'll be mopre of a problem. And you have a bit of a problem too. Addict.

Well it all depends on which version you've got. I know that Sony did release a few new PS2s that it soon recalled, and then released a slightly modified version. So if you bought your PS2 just when they were first released, you might want to look into replacing it with Sony.
