Super-keen 8Bit Halloween costumes
 

I've been trying to get pictures of these costumes up since Halloween. However, these are not in fact Halloween pictures. After two months of back and forth between the photo shop over bad pictures and worse scans, they finally lost my negatives (and subsequently my business). So these pictures were taken right before Christmas to try and reproduce the awesome images we had before.

These new ones are better looking, but the costumes themselves aren't quite as good. For instance, Black Mage originally had real glowey eyes (little lightbulb things held in the eye sockets!) instead of the lens flares you'll see him sporting here. And Fighter's hair was much better. Nonetheless, I present to you the following:

Every costume was hand-made by the one wearing it. In Fighter's case that involved the sheet-metal breastplate and shoulderpads as well as the harness that keeps them on. And the sword-chucks, of course. He originally had a home-made sword, but he replaced it with the Aragorn sword for these shots.

I'm glad people like them. Please note that my Black Mage costume is not complete yet. I will eventually add a high collar to conceal most of my face; and add support to the brim of the hat so it is much stiffer. I also plan to fashon a holder of sorts to be placed on my face to keep my eyes in place. Having to jam and hold lightbulbs in one's eye sockets gets really painful really fast.

Not to mention their tendency to roll in random directions. "Hey, he's looking at Fighter and that tree over there!"
Unfortunately no solution gets rid of the "inability to see" problem.

I to have not finished my Fighter costume. I still need red pants and gauntlets which will hopefully be done by spring.

Is the black mage wearing a baptismal robe?

Actually I think the pattern was based off of a Gandalf Halloween costume (with minor modifications). I could be wrong though.

Sigh... everyone thinks its a church robe. Well, it isn't. Yet I have to agree its an easy mistake to make. When putting the finishing touches on my robe I will try to modify beyond the point of confusion. I have finished the hat though, now it has a stiff brim so it isn't falling all over my face.
Yes, it was originally a Gandalf costume, just assembled more mage-like.
