well, so sorry but there isent any ranger or hunter class so thief is the best choice.
Edit: forgot some things. i agree that you have a point but wouldent it be better if we made a compromize? like we have some damaging spells and then that we can use our magic for other stuff but only too a sertain degree. (if someone understood that then i hope they can explain it too me) |
I can tell that would be an attack at George, but here's how I see it.
IMO, a 0 stat means you don't have any of that ability beyond what you need to stay alive without conflicts. Like 0 defense would mean he could resist the wind but not a punch. 0 strength would be able to stand up and move, but not do things that would be exerting. 0 speed would be being able to walk but thats about it. 0 intelligence would be able to breathe and whatnot but not understand any language. 0 luck means a natural 20 is still a success, but everything else would probably fail. 0 skill means you know how to operate a weapon, but not any tricks. Again, these things are all up to SixnineDragon, so don't worry about it. If SND decides 0 isn't acceptable, I'll switch gambler with scientist and rearrange the points. |
IHMN, I just realized something. We're coming at the nature of these stats and the RP character setup from different angles. From what I've seen, you view the stats as something etherial... Sure they're THERE, but they don't effect the basic nature and personality of the character... right? This is partly based on your take on intelegence... how it doesn't effect the actual intelegence of the character. So, someone could have an INT of 3 and still be a reasonably inteligent person. [Please correct me if I'm wrong about this.]
Where as I am coming at this with way too much experience at D&D... an INT-2 orc won't be speaking properly. And from the stats I thought that this RP would be a more D&D-ESQUE character creation with more concrete developments. I believe this needs to be cleared up. And, on my character note: scientists don't hunt either. Which class does? Besides, I did mention banditry, and scientists don't do that. |
A tamer, fighter, or hand-to-hand class would be more hunter-like than a thief.
I had just assumed that Int referred to technology, not actual thinking power. |
He already is a fighter, and hand to hand people wouldn't hunt. You can't hunt barehanded... well... not well. And tamer... maybe, but I don't want that class. Bad, bad class. And since when do tamers steal? Oh, nevermind. It doesn't really matter anyway.

Also on the subject of intelligence, having a low skill does not automatically make you dumber than toast. It's a combination of mental thought process, knowledge in subject matter, and ignorance. If you know magic spell, but don't know how to apply them to real-life situations, you'd have a low INT score. I hope that makes sense. Also, a Tamer would probably be the best "hunter" class, since even if you didn't do the hunting, you could just have a predetorial animal do it for you. Last note: This RP will be startgin in a week's time |
I'm assuming this is still accepting sign ups, as that the thread is still 'open'.
Name: Cassius Age: 27 Species: Human Home Location: Zeal Magic: Lightning Physical Description (I'm going to rip off armored, because I'm lazy today and that's easier than writing a description): Race: Caucasian Sex: Male Height: 6" Weight: 135 Hair Color: Black Eye Color: Bright Green Biography: Cassius was born in the mountains of zeal with the others of his kind humans of his kind, and, thanks to his blood, was gifted with some magical abilities. He, however, was never interested in training his magical abilities or even using them beyond what was necessary. Science, instead, had been his calling. Observe. Study. Create. Those three words were his life blood as he grew and tinkered in his spare time. As a child he would study the paths of ants and the wings of bees, learning about the world about him with wonderment. He was rarely seen without his notebook, and, as he grew older that notebook stayed with him, even though his focus of study changed. Where once he had studied insects, he was now studying the workings of machines, vehicles, and weaponry by his teens, and he excelled in it. However, he, his parents, and his betrothed--when he was about 19--left home for a trip down the mountain and near the outskirts of Zeal, to the waterfront. A noble family's trip to the beach. It was to be a fun excursion, until they ran into a band of reptite thieves. The creatures were able to slay his parents, his fiancee--whom he had loved dearly, and their guards, but Cassius's father had, unlike his son, spent his life training his magic, and so, as the man lay dying he saved his son with a burst of magical lightning which easily destroyed the creatures. Cassius survived, but he had lost everything but his nobility. Such things change a man, and they changed Cassius. His entire world was rewritten. His wonder and love vanished, replaced only by a cold emotional death and a need for revenge. When he returned home this change was not unnoticed by his superiors when he entered the military, so that he could defend his home against the creatures. He was quickly assigned to become a sniper and assassin. What had once been "Observe. Study. Create." had become, "Observe. Study. Strike." He became good, but when his term of service ended, he found himself unable to do anything else. He had moved past petty revenge, but his home was empty when he returned, just as it was when he left. The laughter of Naomi was no longer there, nor the pleasant banter of his parents, back and forth. It tore him apart merely to stand in the home, and so he left to sell his services across the world. Extra: He can find that 1cm diameter chink in your armor and then shoot it from a football field away. It's what he does. Stat info: Strength. 2 Speed. 10 [5 from thief] Magical Prowess. 4 [all mage] Defense. 2 Intelligence: 25 [3 from scientist] Magical Defense: 4 [all mage] Luck. 4 [2 from thief] Skill. 20 [1+2 from thief/scientist] Disciplines: Thief Scientist Mage I wasn't sure whether scientist or thief should come first. His current 'class' would be assassin, which seems closer to thief, but he does it with what he gained from being a scientist. |
Stat wise, that was going to be my second character if we had set spells.
Also, you spent 52 points. |
Must have hit the wrong button on the calculator one of the times I was re-adjusting stats. Fixed now, though. 2 less speed.
Also, I was going to make the mage character pretty much like you did, until I saw that you had made the mage character. Kind of odd that we'd both have, more or less, the same ideas, stat-wise. |
as to answer the thing about thief class not ebing good for hunting i think the combination of fighter and thief to work as a "hunt to survive" thing, he only hunted so that he would survive.
