In the words of "Family Guy".... freakin' sweet. Though just to be nit-picky, if you use a WM sprite, you have to edit the eye just a bit for it to look girly.

Does anyone remember WMs holy fire? That seemed pretty strong...so could that count as exp?

But the 8BT universe follows Final Fantasy Series rules (or possibly, AD&D 3rd Ed. rules, if RM is correct), which means that the potency of a spell does not increase with use. It shouldn't matter how many times BLM has cast Hadoken, another mage, with equal stats to BLM but casting it for the first time would be equally effective.

In that case, the relative efficiency of the two spells is probably based on INT, in the case of Hadoken, and WIS in the case of "Nekodah" (assuming that Hadoken is a black and Nekodah a white magic spell). I would imagine that BLM's INT and WHM's WIS are roughly the same, making the spells equal in potency.

Of course, if RM is correct http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=041127 then the efficiency is based on the level of the caster, doing 10d10*10 + 10/level of caster damage. Some posters on this board have assumed that this means the spell actually becomes less effective as the caster gains in level, however I believe that in this instance, the "/" sign is used to mean "per" as opposed to "divided by". Assuming that Nekodah is the precise opposite of hadoken, it would probably heal/negate/whatever it does at an identical rate. In this case, a direct battle between hadoken and anti-hadoken would be decided by dice rolls, and the relative levels of the casters.

Pretty good, white mage sprite is a bit off though. And change the poor background.

As them hitting each other, I always thought they would cancel each other out. Or cause a rift in space.

Actually, in some of the FF games, the effect of the spell did go up with use. In FF2, casting Fire a whole lot of times leveled it up a lot, to where it was doing some really nasty damage.

Ah, 'k... never actually played FF2, I've got it as part of the Origins pack, but for some reason I lost the will to live after playing it for 20 minutes. Maybe I should give it another go.

Lemme guess: You headed directly south and got pwned by a group of Flans, didn't you?

Or the Captains in Fynn...

Don't think so, I think I probably did get pwned somewhere along the line, but that's not why I quit... for some reason, I just took an almost instant dislike to the game, which is unlike me... anyway, when I decide to give myself a break in between PC RPGs and console action games, I'll give it another chance.
