Unnamed RP (Fantasy) Sign-Up

Well, since Lunar wasn’t as far-reaching as I thought, and I’m gunna just forget that I ever thought something loosely based on Dark Tower would work, I hope you guys like this. It’s nice and understandable.

[World]
Uhm…there’s a forest to the east because some races live in there. And definetly some mountains to the north. And I’m gunna throw in some water, because otherwise the Naga wouldn’t have a place to settle down. Other than that, it’s pretty low-key. There is no true ruling power, but since Humans are industrious they are far-reaching, and they have the biggest cities spread out.

Races
Humans - Average at everything. Live everywhere.

Elves - You're basic, fragile, quick, magical elves. Good with magic (anything nature-y, so they tend to be more elemental based). Bad with most everything else. Live in the eastern forest area, deeply connected to their home.

Dwarves - Short, muscular, hairy people. The blacksmiths of the world. Best with technology (repairing and creating), worst with actual ‘casting’ magic. To compensate, they can enchant their equipment by putting runes in their weapons and armor. Live in the northern mountains.

Naga - Water snake people. Bottom half snake, top half scaley human. Replace hair with a crest, or bald. Attribute wise, they are like elves…er water elves, with their magic being very intellectual. Live in the water everywhere.

Bangaa - Lizard people, from FFTA. Big lizard face, scaley body; clawed hands and feet, and tails. Stronger than dwarves, faster than humans, but worse magic than dwarves. Tend to be more hand-to-hand, what with claws and all.
(You haven't played FFT:A? Look here!)

Orochi - Land snake people. Humanoid form, but with four arms instead of two. Fastest and most dexterious of the races. Best with bows. Also live in forest. Orochi don’t necessarily ‘suck’ at magic, they’re just limited to extremely small shamanic abilities.
(If picture reading is easier, look here!)

Golems - Giant rock (or any material associated with the mountains, like…uhm…[fill this space with mountain rock types]) people. Can't use magic at all, but are unmatched for strength. Reside in the mountains with dwarves, used for the harder manual labor. Intelligence varies.

Pixies - Small child-sized (like ten years old, about 3 feet-ish) adult with insect wings. Weakest physically, but best with magic. And they can fly, but not very high up, more like a hovering so they can look at you in the eye.

Technology
Weapons - Swords, maces, mauls, knives, whips, etc. Crossbows at best for you ranged people.

Everything else - Mostly medieval, except dwarves have made some failures of flying machines (dirgibles, rocket propelled gliders, anything you know wouldn’t work but be fun to watch). They have large, steam powered tank-like cars, though they can't go very far, fast, or effectively, so they use em for transport of a lot of materials over a short distance or just a self-pushing battering ram.

Magic
Anything but Time magic. Make it connected to the race.

Story
I’m cutting out the middleman. When this starts, you’re all on the run with a bounty for your return. We stumble onto each other, decide we have common interests, hijinks will ensue (BECAUSE I WILL IT THAT’S WHY!). Plus, what starts as running from the law/bounty hunters/church/dwarf goats may blossom into a large cliché-breaking story that might change your outlook on the fantasy genre! Imagine that.

The caption on the last orochi picture made me chuckle. A++

However...

You lie! You lie like a dog! This will break no cliches or change any outlooks! Foolish lying mortal of lies! You say this only to trick us into joining... well it won't work, you hear! YOU HEAR!?

Is there a limit on the crime commited for bounty? I don't think the super evil pychopath black mage will work well with the simple thief who messed up, or the guy who was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Dante 01-10-2005 12:37 AM

Yeah, and there's a world of difference between Robin Hood and brutal rapist.

OmniShadow 01-10-2005 01:35 AM

well, i like the idea, the problem is that i dont think MLA wants me in.

MNMinion 01-10-2005 01:42 PM

Sounds like fun but like everyone is talking about, is the backstory supposed to reflect you alignment?
Count me in if more people join.

My Lead Airbag 01-10-2005 03:21 PM

Well, I guess I hadn't really planned for anyone to conceive of rapists...new motto: "Always factor in rapists, and while you're at it, bestiality."

Anyways, I'm thinking of limiting the most extreme crimes to killing a person or two, since that involves either revenge or an accident or whatnot. If all we have is dark brooding Johnny the Homicidal Maniacs running around, the story wouldn't involve running from the law as much as mindless killing.

Also, things to note, who you pissed off affects the crime too. The nomads or whatever of the plains might not mind you killing a few animals for foo, but the Orochi and Elves would hate you if you touched their nature. If you disobeyed a

Omnishadow, I'd let you in if you ever even pretended to be interested in writing a readable post.

MNMinion, didn't think of it like that, but I guess it works. Just don't create somebody with too evil a personality (An assassin who took the fall for a kill would be ok, but the psychopath black mage who kills for no reason is a no-no).

It should be.

It is unfortunate that your "End Times" RP never started, I was really looking forward too it.
Once again, I apologize.

That is what he meant.

That (the horrible grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.) and the fact that you get really PMSed whenever you don't get something your way. I don't really wanna deal with the drama of trying to make sure you don't interrupt everybody else with your crying game.
