The new Spiderman 2 trailer looks pretty awesome. July...sooooo far away....

*starts a chant* Doc Ock, Doc Ock, Doc Ock!!!

If you think that's a long wait, think of how long *I* have to wait for Star Wars: Episode III.

It looks great! I'll go if only to watch "Doc Ock" clime around on buildings.

I've very few doubts it's gonna rock (like the first), but I have decided it won't let any Spiderman movie really blow me away until they introduce Venom.

It's Alfred Molina as the Doc, isn't it? Cooool.

While I'm looking forward to seeing Venom in a movie, I don't think they'll be able to pull it off without pissing me off in some way. See, the only proper way to introduce Venom would to start out with Spiderman getting the alien costume. And keep in mind, 2 hours isn't a whole lot of time to introduce a story of that length and still have time for ass-kickingly good action. I'm a stickler for comic-to-movie accuracy. If they leave anything out, it'll definitely piss me off. Still, I guess it would be better than having no Venom at all.

Yeah, the backstory's a problem. I guess there will never be a "Spiderman in space" story in the movies... they could pull of, I dunno, a meteor maybe...? Parker sent to the meteor site, finding alien, losing alien, Eddie Brock finding alien, action ensues.

Maybe not at all good, but I just made that up upon writing, so sorry if it's too cheesy and keep them flamings to yerself. :D

Or they could pull some sort of "X-Men 2/3" on us, with the backstory in one movie and the next concentrating on Venom. And the one after that on Carnage. Hey, c'mon Hollywood, that's three movies in the bank!

That's not a bad idea, actually. It'd be a hell of a lot better than cutting out chunks of the story. I'd really like to see what they can do with Venom's costume.

The problem being, the end of X-Men 2 was quite a surprise (to an extent where I didn't get the Phoenix part... ok, I don't read the comics either...), while the setup for the Venom story would be as obvious as anything, what with the black costume and all...

But that's for Hollywood to figure out. I shall be content to wait. I mean, at some point they literally have no choice but to bring Venom. And hailed be that day.

Say...is Doc Ock gonna be a little stocky*? 'Cause, in the only poster I've seen of him for the movie he looked kinda skinny. Every version of Doc Ock in the comics was always bulky*, see...
Alright, so it's a stupid thing to wonder about.
