Dawn of Legends Sign-Up

This is based off the Final Fantasy Legend series.

The Pillar of Sky connects many different worlds. Scattered about these worlds are Magi, pieces of a mythical puzzle. If all 77 Magi are brought together, they will create the goddess statue Isis. Xagor, maker of the Water Entity, yearns to obtain the goddess statue. He has sent his minions to each world to seek out Magi. They are relentless in their search, destroying villages and raiding shrines and stores.
News of this destruction reaches a town in the lowermost world. The people fear for their safety. A decision is made to assemble a group of heroes brave enough to take on the minions of Xagor, but no one expects that anybody will be willing to volunteer. Amazingly, a few do accept the job.

Races:

Human - Humans are strong and versatile, and can wield weapons to great effect. They can cast magic, but it takes a lot of practice to master.

Mutant - Mutants learn spells naturally, and can use them effectively. However, mutants are physically weak and cannot wield weapons with as much skill as humans.

Monster - Monsters are generally wild, savage creatures, but some are sentient and live among humans and mutants. Monsters can change forms by consuming the meat of fallen foes. Due to this unpredictable nature, they cannot carry artificial tools or weapons.
Starting options for monster classes are Goblin, Sprite, and Slime.

Robot - Robots are artificial entities that can be upgraded and modified easily. Weapons and armor plating can be installed and uninstalled with ease. Robots are strong when using projectile weapons such as guns or bows, but they cannot use magic.

Character Sheet:
Name
Race
Gender (Humans and mutants only. Male characters are stronger than female characters, who are generally faster)
Bio (Doesn't have to be long)
Equipment (See below. Humans and mutants get one weapon and one piece of armor of your choice, robots get a Pistol and no armor by default, and monsters can't equip)

Starting Weapons and Armor: "Strong" weapons (STR) are best wielded by strong characters, while "Swift" weapons (AGL) are better for a speedy character. No preference for armor.

STR Long Sword, Hammer, Longbow

AGL Rapier, Dagger, Shortbow

Bronze Plate
Silver Helm
Gold Gauntlets

I'll start this going when we have at least 4 players; anyone past that number can join in at towns.

I want to be a monster, but is there any differance in the ability's of the goblin, sprite, and slime?
I haven't played the FFL series, can I stll play?

Dynamite220 01-15-2005 10:03 PM

As the DM's older brother, and a person who has played the series, I think that I can safely say that:

1. The difference between the starting monsters is element, and what element you are + what element the monster that you consume to change form determines what form you change into and it's element. mammothtank will have to decide the details.

2. Yes, it is ok to play if you haven't played the series. The only thing that would give you trouble are the systems used to decide monsters and robots powers, which is relatively simple as explained above.

Mammothtank can problably give you more details later.

mammothtank 01-16-2005 09:15 AM

Yes, you can still play. The difference between each monster is in its element and abilities. The Goblin is Earth-element and uses Punch; the Sprite is Wind-element and uses Dive; and the Slime is Water-element and uses Dissolve.
Punch - deals damage, increasing with use
Dive - deals Wind damage
Dissolve - deals mild damage and absorbs HP

Here's a chart showing the element change when meat is eaten.

Meat element >...Earth..Water..Fire.....Air
Your element V
...............Earth..Earth..Fire.....Air.....Wate r
..............Water...Air....Water..Earth...Fire
................Fire...Water..Air......Fire....Ear th
.................Air....Fire....Earth...Water..Air

Your element also determines your strengths and weaknesses. Fire bests Wind, Wind bests Earth, Earth bests Water, Water bests Fire. Each element also sports a resistance to itself.

Name: SP220
Race: Robot
Bio: A Prototype robot build to fight Xagor's forces, unlike most robot's SP220 has a personality. SP220 is serious but not to the point of being grim. SP220's advanced parts allow him to think beyond his programing unlike almost all robots ever made.
Equipment: (could you specify if it's just pistol or can i make a special pistol.)

mammothtank 01-16-2005 04:21 PM

It's just Pistol. Later on you can get Musket, SMG, Magnum, Cannon...

That's great! We just need Pendejochy to post his character. (That is, if he's still interested.)
