Strom Horizon Ch 1: Zero Mission
 

At an army base North of the German border a siren goes off. Soldiers run back and fourth as the commander steps forward and asks the man at the radar station,"What is going on around here? Why is there such a racket?"
The man looked down at the radar, "We detected enemy presence over five minutes ago. We have 16 enemy Wanzers on radar and 4 choppers." "Everyone to there battle stations," the commander yelled as he ran to his wanzer and jumped in. The Wanzers had dropped from the choppers and started assaulting the base. Troops from the base tried to fend off the attack but were destroyed one by one by the enemy. Barracks were destroyed and the command center was heavily damaged.

In the morning, the only thing left of the base was the command center and a few remaining massively damaged Wanzer units including the commander himself.

The Durandal unit plane crossing over the German border. The pilots were talking to each other. "So, what exactly happened at the base?" "No idea, thats what we're going to find out." Zead, head commander of the unit looked at his troops,"We'll be there soon, you may converse any way you like until we arrive at the base. Oh, and Jeff from now on you'll lead the troops through battle, good luck in battle."

Out of nowhere the plane was struck with oncoming enemy fire. Everything inside the plane besides the Wanzers moved at least an inch. The co-pilot entered the room and looked at Zead,"Sir, you must deploy the unit this instant. We have determined them as Wanzers, this would also be a good battle experience for your newest troops." Zead looked over to Jeff, "Good, its time to deploy. You'll have to go out with your current weaponry though."
The co-pilot exited the room saying, "Ready to drop in 5 minutes."

'Ricardo hurried into his Wanzer, Assault'
"Ready to drop sir!"

Warren, who was already by his wanzer when the ship was hit, jumped in.
"Ready when you are captin!"

Robert jumped into his Wanzer and powered up all its systems.
"Wanzer: Woglinde, ready to deploy!"
He moved over by the hatch, awaiting the order to jump, while taking analysis of the situation with his radar pack. There were indeed enemy Wanzers firing on the transport, but their presence was as mysterious as the problem with the base they were to investigate. Perhaps they were connected...

All of these thoughts were forgotten, however, as the command to jump was given...

Zead looked at the others and gave the signal to co-pilot. The hatch dropped and the Wanzers fell like lead weights to the ground below. As the Wanzers reached the ground the enemies started forming an arc around the Durandal Squad. About 6 enemy Wanzers now surrounded the Squad.
Enemies:
6 Wanzers, 2 with backpacks, 1 emp anti-lock(the ability to disable missle guidance systems), 1 item backpack, 3 have double uzi's, other 3 shotguns.
Battle conditions: Defeat all of the enemies.

Zead looked over the battlefield and contacted Omni over the radio,"Good luck and God speed. Oh, and the rest of the team we'll need to know who these people are. Good luck team.

The enemies looked over at the newly formed Durandal Squad,"These people will be easy, time to take care of them." One particular Wanzer looked over at them,"Don't get too cocky you guys I feel this won't be easy."

Warren takes his Wanzer into the air and switches his left hand weapon to a flamethrower.
"Lets get this started" he said.
He then begins to send a flurry of hot lead into the enemies arc, in an attempt to break their formation, all the while hovering in the air.

Robert manuvered the Woglinde to a position at the center of the battlefield and started firing with his artillery cannon while laying down suppresion fire with his machine gun.

"The enemy's weapons are set up for closer range combat. Therefore, the best tactic is to use the machine-gun to keep enemies away while actually going for the kill with accurate long-range weaponry. Superior tactics shall win again!"

"Hehe, think again Robert. Offensive close combat is the best tactic no matter what"
Ricardo said as he activated his boost pack, put up his shields and rushed at one with a backpack.

Using Ricardo to distract the enemies, Warren touches down behind the enemies and switches his weapons back to machine guns.
"Lets see if they can handle this" he says as he begins to fire upon the unsuspecting Wanzers.

The leader of the group sat in his Wanzer and stared as the fight went on. "When will i get my chance. Oh well here goes." The leader sprang into battle intercepting Ricardo on his way. Taking on heavy damage one of the Wanzers let off an EMP signal and disabled Roberts walking system. One of the Shotgun Wanzers took advantage of this and fire on Robert's Wanzers right arm. One aimed up into the air and fired at Warren,"Stop hovering man your making me dizzy!"As one bullet came after the other one hit Warren's Wanzer damaging the legs while the enemies Wanzer caught fire. Unaware to Ricardo's presence, one of the took heavy damage and activated a self destruct timer,"If I'm going down I'm taking you all with me!"

ooc:In this event you can either bail and hope you get away from the blast or stay and brace for impact which would probably be the better choice seeing you might take less damage that way, but you also might take on enemy fire while you brace...your choice.
