Dante's Rant About Stupid Game Problems
So here I am, happily playing KOTOR like a good little Padawan when I ge tto the dream sequence shortly after I arrive on Dantooine. I see the movie, raise an eyebrow, then expect to get on witht he game. But nooo, you know what I get?
"Knights of the Old Republic has encountered a serious error and needs to close." "Okay, Dante old boy, " I think. "Maybe it's a one-off thing. Your comp's not exactly meeting the recommended specs now, is it?" I try it again. "Knights of the Old Republic has encountered a serious error and needs to close." "Hmm, maybe I should patch it. Might help." So I download the patch and install it. Installed. I play, expecting sweet plot advancement. "Knights of the Old Republic has encountered a serious error and needs to close." "Easy now, let's restart and try again one more time..." "Knights of the Old Republic has encountered a serious error and needs to close." "I am Dante's raging inner inferno. I go to LucasArts. I kill people. Never mind, I'll try again." "Knights of the Old Republic has encountered a serious error and needs to close." "Maybe I should go vent my frustration on a message board before sodomizing the Tech Support crew with a rusty penknife..." And here I am. Seriously, though, I don't get it. I have a P4 2.0Ghz, 512 megs of RAM, a Radeon 8500, more than adequate HD space, a Creative SBLive! and the gme was original. What the hell is the problem here? It's pretty damn ironic, in a way. I usually only buy originals when I feel the game is really worth it. And now it pulls this shit on me. What the <BLEEP> is going on?!?!! |
It might a faulty copy. Go to wherever you bought it from and exchange it for a new copy. If that copy fails to work then you will know for sure there is a problem with your system. But always check to make sure its not just the game first.
I occasionally get customers in with this type of problem. I give them a new copy, 2/3 of the time it fixes the problem. The other 1/3 have hardware problems. |
Judging that my friend sometimes has to put up with this kind of thing at EB, I might can lend some advice. It might just be a flaw in that specific disk... sometimes stuff like that can happen when they mass produce stuff. I'd suggest taking it back where you got it and telling them that you keep getting the error, and that nothing you have done has helped (like downloading the patches, etc.) Then just kinda ask that you can get an exchange to get one that is actually working. If the same thing happens with that new one...eh... Then I'd say someone is seriously trying to fsck with you o_o

It may be a faulty cd, but I read the reviews over at game spot and they said that the game has serious stability problems, where the game did not work 100% on 4 totally different test systems.
With that said I am getting the game tonight and it had better work. |
glad i got mine on x box, I hate it when games are produced with problems
|
XBox one has problems and glitches, but usually just reseting fixes those. Couple of times in middle of fight, game freezes up, or is going extremely slow(So it seems like it stops)
|
true the x box has a bunch of glitches, i've only had 1 that effected a side story. would say, but don't wanna ruin the game
|
Don't be too proud of this technologocal terror you've purchased. The ability to lead a Jedi or Sith through an adventure in the Star Wars galaxy is insignificant next to the power of the Bug!

its all a lucasarts plot to get people to play SWG. assisted by microsoft to force the xbox upon an unwilling public. that, and theyve included the option to use the x-box as body armor to increase sales to the redneck militia types. (Read Gamespot, hehe)
...so get that knife ready, or, it being xmas time, send em some fruitcake laced with arsenic, seems that the natural poison of fruitcake is only powerful enough to cause a bad case of the shits. |
