X-Men 3 + No Brian Singer = uh oh.

You heard me right.

http://www.killermovies.com/x/xmen3/articles/4799.html

We may all cry now in peace.

If you don't like Brian Singer, I can only shrug - He did great for the really limited time he had with X-Men and I think did a phonomenal job with X-2. He directed The Usual Suspects which is probably still one of my downright favorite movies.

Talk, or even go on about how PotC2 has Chow Yun Fat.

EDIT: on a slightly happier note, he's doing Superman instead.

Meister 01-19-2005 08:11 AM

I can't stand Superman. Fat lot that helps me. :(

Well, let's see who ends up doing it. Hopefully not Joel Schumacher or some of these hacks. Let's also hope the studios have enough common sense to end the series while it's good. They might already be approaching the line.

Also, Discussion? Not really if you think about it, eh? ^^ Moving to General.

Well... Joss Wheadon(sp?) from Buffy is doing the new Wonder Woman movie.

Toastburner B 01-19-2005 09:59 AM

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know who is playing Superman in the new movie? I heard a long (I talking years here) time ago that was going to be Nicholas Cage...which I thought was horrible. Can anyone (please) disprove this?

All you really need to use is common sense. Nicholas Cage: Scrawny white guy. Superman: Beefy white guy. Besides, it doesn't seem to be the kind of character he plays much anyway. I just hope they don't get the Govonator.

As far as the director, as long as its not Scorsesee, Spielburg (though he might not do a horrible job), or Michael Moore (not that I have anything against any one of these guys) it shouldn't be all that bad.

According to IMDB (and I'm not that trusting of IMDB since they put up a page about an "untitled Spaceballs sequel"), Superman/Clark Kent is going to be played by a certain Brandon Routh, Lois Lane by an equally unknown (more at obscure) Kate Bosworth, while Lex Luthor is going to be played by Kevin Spacey.

The movie's profile can be found here

Edit: The trivia confirms the Cage thing:

Quote:

When this project was originally in pre-production in the mid-90's, Nicolas Cage was attached as Superman.
Edit 2: Reading up on this a little, I think we might learn to miss the version Cage and company might have come up with. I mean, a Giant Spider?!

Seems to be a pretty good resource for comic book movies, although I don't really have anything to compare it to.

Oh the images in my head right now... XP
But yeah. I mean, as much as I like for example David Lynch movies, I wouldn't be terribly keen on him directing X3. Interesting though it would be.

My mistake.

That...is evil.
Well let's just hope it's not a hack as this is probably one of my favorite movie series. However, the good news!

Jean is indeed returning, which of course means they will have to engauge in the Phoenix Saga for this one. The chances are they will have the younger ones - such as Shadowcat, Iceman (personal favorite), Beast, and - god willing - Gambit into the fray. Looking closely there's a bit of a teaser as I saw Remy LeBeau's name on William Striker's computer in X2. Most of all I want to see Iceman's armor.

Rumor mill runs it that they will be running 5 of the X men movies (As much as Spider Man, woo hoo!), which hopefully they will end up incorporating into the Sentinels, as they have very little other material to go off of. Also they may end up going into Onslaught to end the series, which will kick serious, serious ass.

As long as Juggernaut is somewhere in the movie, I don't care whos directing it.

Oh, and GIR, Whedon has actually written for comics I believe.

houkama 01-19-2005 04:12 PM

If you are a loser like I? you have heard the commentary for x-2 and know that Gambit and Beast were scheduled to be in the third movie, however, Bryan was also to be the director.

Also I find there our plenty of other talented directors. I hope they get someone good, that Oscar guy that did Hellboy was bretty good. Also what about Ron Perlman as Beast?
