The law of equivalent exchange only counts for human transmutation. Notice how Ed doesn't exchange anything for the gold when he makes a ton of it. Or the hotel he makes from scratch.

Krylo 01-19-2005 05:33 PM

I know I'm not in this RP: but the law counts for all alchemy.

The gold he makes from stones of equal mass. The hotel he creates from the parts of the hotel. Al makes a whole apple from a sliced apple with all the parts together.

Equivalent exchange does not mean equivalent worth, merely equivalent material.

With human transmutation, creating a body is easy. You just get together all the components and transmute them together. It's creating/moving a soul that is difficult. What can you possibly exchange that is equivalent to a human soul?

The laws of alchemy apparently decided that Al's entire body and Ed's leg were about right.

The Kneumatic Pnight 01-19-2005 05:51 PM

Weren't Al's body and Ed's leg taken for the "True Knowledge" rather than the human transmutation? Because whenever you attempt human transmutation you seem to get taken into the whole "True Knowledge" thing... Eh, this has little to nothing to do with the RP so it doesn't really matter. But NO, the law of equivilant exchange, like Krylo said, applies to ALL alchemy. This will be important throughout the RP so remember it EVERYONE who didn't get it before. You want something new, you have to change something old. Thus Water--->Acid or Air---->Explosive Gas. Etcetera etcetera.

EDIT: Oh, and you seem to know something about this. I believe that Aerozord is looking for more people to join if you're interested... if you even bother to read back on this... eh... whatever.

Incendius 01-19-2005 05:57 PM

Actually Ed's arm and leg were taken by wrath not by equivelent echange.

Oh yah and i improved on your gunshot idea, but now everyone is involved.

No thanks.

I DID go through the RP thread and delete all the ooc, because I thought your suggestion was a good one.

I've decided to be kind of active mod-wise in the RP forum these days. Who knows how long that will last, though?

IHateMakingNames 01-19-2005 06:39 PM

Would the power of turning air into water (Combining the oxygen and hydrogen if explanation is needed), then freezing that into ice be an acceptable alchemy speciality move thingy? Mostly it would be used to make a small wall of ice to block attacks, or possibly make a small amount of water then make an icicle to stab people with.

Also, I've always wanted an active RP mod, so yay.

Psrdirector 01-19-2005 06:41 PM

oh, here is something our people would know. what is the mission, is it to do with that intro you put in or what, they would tell us something. so i was just wondering

Ed's leg was taken by the transumation to bring back their mother which failed pretty badly. Ed used his own arm in the transmutation to move his brothers soul into the armor in the corner. (I conjecture it was this act, and the lack of a body left over, that accounts for Al's strong attachment to the armor.) I have every episode that has aired on CN saved to my computer and have seen them all at least twice so I can usually answer any nagging questions.

Incendius 01-19-2005 07:02 PM

Your actually wrong. Al was all that was taken in return for the mother. Wrath was imprisoned in the gateway and when Ed tried to reach across to revive his mom Wrath stole his leg. When Ed reached to take back Al's soul Wrath this time stole his arm in the process. As a result since he has a human arm and leg Wrath is the only homunculus that can perform alchemy.

You would think people would react to a gunshot y'now.

IHateMakingNames 01-19-2005 07:05 PM

Pyros, you do realize that everything you just said are spoilers. That should be in black (The 111111 black).

And, it doesn't really belong here. There is a FulL Metal Alchemist thread in the Animation forum.

Also, RP related, why is no one reacting to the train exploding?
