What did you think of the end of the book? Warning, contains spoilers.
Hey all, just wondering what everyone thought of the end of the book, i loved the entire book but there was one thing that puzzled me, after all the hype about atomic lad's field being a KI Field and it matching perfectly another, we never find why thats significant. it doesnt exactly do anything does it? plus i also didn't like Rachel dying, brought tears to my eyes and no book has ever done that before! Damn you brian! Damn you and ur tear provokative ways! and i know that probably isnt spelt right

The ending was good. Atomik's Lad's field was not explained because Brian is saving that for the sequel Atomik Age.
|
Yeah, I can't go into more detail, as I ought to be divulging The Reason(TM) for that in Atomik Age :)
|
ok that's fair enough, though all i can say to that is u better write it damned fast. actually no, dont, a rushed story is a bad story. take ur time, but not to much time as so it exceeds my lifespan.

Well, you certainly put me into a depression, then melancholy bout. I hate those. But I'm half-addicted to them. They challenge my ideas, allow me to expand.
Anyway, I liked Rachel's character, but Brian, I think you made the right decision. I'm wondering how Atomik Lad will deal with it in the next one. But, on the other hand, she was freaking awesome. Arg! It's not my book, and if it was, it would be terrible. So... Congrats! Running away, Barnaby36 |
i loved the book , i rocks emmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm LONG LIVE BACON_WARRIOR ( AND GIRLS ) :bmage: :bmage: :bmage:

Can't help but love the book! And hey, for all we know she could just be in a stasis field like MMMM, and Ima just insn't mentioning it since John needs to focus on the reconstruction...but wasn't mentioned so not too likely :( COM'ON! SHE'S COOL!
|
Nah, Rachel was awesome and all, but she served her purpose in the book, and so did her death. Like Aeris', Gwen Stacy's and many, many others, her death is vital for the story's development, and more so to Atomik Lad's emotional status/situation/whatever on AA. All people are defined by their past, and Atomik Lad is the most human character in the book.
|
The only problem I foresee is that in Atomik Age, Atomik Lad's gonna meet another girl but he'll still be all angsty about losing Rachel, so he'll push her away, plus the everpresent death of anyone who gets close to him, and it's just going to degenerate into a big ol' ball-o-angst. They always do.
|
I promise no angst-fest. Seven years will have passed between Nihel's introduction and the beginning of Atomik Age. And while I'm sure ol' Sparky isn't happy about what happened to Rachel, his friends, and the world, he's had time to deal with it.
