What is Calvinball?

I, like most right-minded people, have read the Calvin and Hobbes comics ever since I was about 5. So of course I know what Calvinball is. But is it just a RP that on the forums? And if so, where can I sign up? Is it too late for me to sign up?

The forum one is a bastardization of all things Calvinball. God moding runs rampant and creatures of undeniable power play in their own little rule game that's more violent than the original version of LaCrosse.

it's the comic one with superpowers and now we have a few standard rules too, such as you must use your post to actually do something, not just as a placeholder.

just post something in the discussion thread saying what you basically look like, and what kinds of powers you have. don't worry, you can change your mind later.

if you still are confused, read the discussion thread for more info

The object of the game is to get the calvinball, an object of imense power, and hold it for as long as you can. From what has been told to me bonus points are awarded to the person who can come up with the best ending.

Winning really isn't that important anymore, it's coming off well at the end. Having the Calvinball at the end of the game means you win, unless it gets closed, but endings you make in which you end up with the Calvinball are generally NOT well-received, and so not considered the best or "official" ending.

So an ending would be like: After blockbuster made it that there were no late fees, everyone decided to buy a Norweigen llama and thus the desolate feild was left untill another time when insomniacs will roam upon it again?

Dragonsbane 01-25-2005 06:07 PM

...No. That's been done.

Gee-wilickers..... But I still wanna pet Llama.

Behold! An example of a great (and my personal favorite) Calvinball ending, for everyone profits.

His mind and soul were intact, but his body was gone, used to fuel the thaumaturgical process. The station itself was his body now. The station morphed into a giant metallic cowled head. With the Calvinball's invulnerability, it wouldn't be long before Thaumaturge conquered THE MULTIVERSE!

MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

When that happened, Calvinball was instated as the multiversal religion, and the Calvinballers made its high priests. And there was Calvinball for evermore, and it was good.

The End

Of course you'd have to read the whole thread to get the context, which (of course) changes from thread to thread. That is the one true rule of Calvinball that we follow: No two games are ever the same.

Also, your ending is a little too random, but it's a good start.

I can't help it, I love randomness. Also I kindawish Calvinball was more Calvinball-ish. Like with the continuous rules which make no sense. SAUSAGE BISCUT!
