My Plan to Destroy BlockBuster
As you all may know, Blockbuster, in order to compete against online rental services, has dropped its late fees. This means that from now on, you can keep your blockbuster movies as long as you wish. Thus, I have come up with this (admittedly fairly obvious) plan to DESTROY BLOCKBUSTER.
I would like everyone to organize a group of people with at least limited monetary funds. Everyone gather as many people as you can find. When you feel comfortable with the group you have gathered, I ask that you all travel to your local blockbuster (together, if possible, in order to instill a sense of awe). I then want you to rent ALL of the movies in the store. Leave, and never return. Why am I trying to destroy Blockbuster? Because I have nothing better to do. It has nothing to do with politics, beliefs, or personal grudges. I just feel like taking down a national video rental store. So, if you all want to join me in my senseless quest, go to your local blockbuster and rent as many videos as you can. If you are rich, then I suggest you rent all the videos in the store yourself, and then open up a video rental place yourself next door. The Leader of the AerodynamicHair Video Liberation Front has spoken. |
yeah, except how it works is, after a week they charge you the used price of the movie less the rental fee and you own the movie. Then if you decide to bring it back within 30 days, you receive full credit back less a $1.50 restocking fee.
I just wonder if they will keep on doing their "guaranteed in stock" thing with the no late fees. |
Damn! Foiled again.
That is really crappy though. I don't think they can really keep up a "no late fees" policy like that without the customers getting a little pissed about the hidden charges. It'll probably change back after a little while. At most, people will probably just use it to turn in movies a little later than they're used to. |
it was a solid plan but blockbusters evil can't be stopped by a technicality
|
well the thing is, the customers were mad at the late fees because they'd end up paying more in fees than the movie was worth. so if customers get mad at this too, its sort of a 'damned if you do, damned if you dont' thing that you cant really blame on blockbuster.

Wow, that sucks that you end up paying for a movie if you don't get it back in time. I guess it's not a late fee if they don't own it. Another great plan to destroy BlockBuster is to take that same group of people as before and never go to BlockBuster ever. Online movie/video game rentals are the wave of the future.

It doesn't work in Alaska. We still have to pay late fees.
I hate being left out.:( |

PS: Nice to see another Alaskan around this big Internet of ours. |
