A Naruto-Ninja d20
Welcome to the new and improved Naruto d20 rpg version 1.1.
Advancements over ver. 1.0 include - This one actually makes sense. If you are unfamiliar with Naruto please check: http://www.naruto-kun.com and http://www.narutofan.com I. Story/Intro The world of the Naruto manga and anime is one of great wonders and magic. The heroes live in villages that serve as training grounds for the shinobi. After completing their schooling, the shinobi are armed with a Genin (lower ninja) headband. By the time a shinobi reaches the Genin level they will likely know a handful of jutsus (techniques) and be moderately proficent in kunai and shuriken (daggers/throwing knives and throwing stars.) The Genin are then seperated into groups of three where they will be tutored and mentored by a Jounin (high ninja). The Genin team with or without the aid of their Jounin will accomplish missions of varying difficulty until they pass the Chuunin Exam (which are held every year and include ninja from multiple villages.) For our purposes we live in a parallel universe of Naruto in which none of the characters exist, but the families and villages exist. You begin as a Genin and will be given a chance to become promoted after you have fulfilled a number (2-3) missions.Your village, Konoha (Hidden Leaf/ the village of Fire) is led by the Hokage (the highest ninja), named Houkama Jikkouchuu. II. Making your character Before you can become a ninja and compete for the various honors each mission brings, you must graduate from the Konoha ninja academy. In order to pass the Genin Exam you must provide the Hokage with the following information: A. Clan Your clan or family name comes first. Your clan determines a lot about your charachter. Every clan has its own jutsus and style. Some specialize in Taijutsu (physical combat), others have specific Ninjutsu (magic techniques) known only to their clan. Depending on your clan you may have certain minimums and maximums set for certain attributes. The Clans in this RPG will include all of the clan's from the manga except the Uchiha and Uzimaki. A short description of some clans and the clan's specialty will be given however for a more in depth of a clans history consult the sites given or PM me. Hyuuga/Hyuga-One of Konoha's oldest clans. They are seperated into the Main and Branch houses. The branch is bound to have the clans secrets and must serve as bodyguards for those in the Main house. The basis of the clan is its Byakugan (white eyes) which alloes them to see the chakra openings and manipulate the flow within them. Akimchi- These large boned ninja use their girth to destroy opponents. They use jutsus to manipulate their size and further the damage caused by there attacks.Their special jutsus include Multi-Size no Jutsu and Meat Tank. The Akimchi have also concocted a series of three pills that allow them to gain extreme levels of chakra at a loss to their own health. Aburame- This clan uses their special bond with the kikai insects. In exchange for a place to live and food, the kikai become a powerful force in offensive, defensive, and espionage. (The Aburame combat is only part two. To be explained further.) Nara- This clan uses an outdated technique that allows them to control their opponents throughout their shadows. Kage Mane no Jutsu ( shadow copy technique) is one of their only jutsus. (This clan can be done with either part one or two although two is always recommended.) Hatake- A genius clan, the pride of the line of the clan is granted the White Fand, an extremely powerful blade, however the blade can only be granted to the shinobi after they have passed the chuunin exam. Haruno- A clan that consists of few nins. Those that have become nins have done well in genjutsu and medical jutsus. They are known for their nearly flawless chakra control above all things. Inuzuka- This clan is often seen with their companions. Every Inuzuka shinobi is trained with their dog to be capable of transformation into a near beast form. They also have a sense of smell that is 1000 times the strength of the typical human. Maito- The masters of Gouken (Iron Fist) combat. They are not bound to no ninjutsu, but prefer tai since it is more easily reflective of your efforts to train rather than born ability. Mitarashi- This clan is rarely seen, but they are known for they're skills in poison and snake related jutsus. Sarutobi- The clan of the third Hokage, the jack of all trades clan. Yamanaka- The greatest of the genjustsu clans. They excel in the body switch technique. And of course there are more clans, and you can create your own. B. Attributes Your attributes determine your ability to attack, defend, or hide successfully. You start with set attributes, but are able to change them overtime by relying on certain attributes and leveling up. Be aware that choosing to specialize allows you to gain bonus points, but you may have caps put on other attributes. Chakra pool- this attribute determines how much chakra your charachter can use before they become weak. Chakra control- this attribute determines the amount of chakra wasted on each nin or gen jutsu. Speed- this determines your ability to attack, block, and counter. However, you are still succeptible to suprise attacks. Awareness- being aware allows you to gain initiative strikes and with a high score in this and speed a shinobi can stay alive for a long time. Stamina- determines your hitpoints and ability to carry items. Ninjutsu- this effects the power and type of ninjutsus that you use. Genjutsu- this determines the strength and effect of your genjutsu Taijutsu- this determines your strength and agility in fighting. C. Jutsus Jutsus are your main means of personalizing your attack style. Ninjutsu covers any manipulation of chakra that effects the physical existance of matter around a shinobi. Genjutsus create an area or concentrated field that disrupts senses of those that cross it. Taijutsu is any style of martial arts that is enhanced with or without use of chakra. Unfortunately there are hundreds of jutsus that have been created by shinobi. Some jutsus require a certain emotional state, but most merely require you to have learned the technique and have the stats neccesary to perform the action. For statistical purposes all ninjutsu and some genjutsu will be ranked by a jutsu level. The levels determine the amount of points required to learn the jutsu and chakra needed to use the technique. Your beginning charachter may have 10 jutsu points to spend on level 1 and 2 jutsus. Since I lack the hours to chronicle every jutsu, I will include only the most common cross-jutsus. Level 1: 2 points Bunshin no Jutsu (Clone Technique) this creates clones that can distract, but dissapear on contact. Henge no Jutsu (Transformation Technique) Transforms the appearance of shinobi for espionage purposes. Kawarimi no Jutsu (Body Switch Technique) allows the shinobi to switch their body with a nearby object. Level 2: 4 points (there are many clan based techniques that I will added; please PM me with any questions for jutsus you would like.) Kontserun Henge no Jutsu (Combined Transformation Technique) allows for multiple objects to be transformed to appear as one object. Bakuretsufuu (Exploding Seal) placed on a piece of paper this technique allows the user to attach the paper to a kunai and have the kunai do additional damage. Kage Shuriken no Jutsu (Shadow Shuriken no Jutsu) by slight of hand one shuriken flies in the another shurikens shadow . Kirigakure no Jutsu (Hidden Mist Technique) creates a dense fog, ideal for getaways. Riki no jutsu: (Strength technique) a prereguisite for all advanced taijutsus, this allows the user to further the power behind physical attacks through use of little chakra. Taijutsu 1: use of 2-3 move combos. Byakugan: White eyes of Hyuga clan Jyuken: Gentle fist taijutsu- usable for Hyuga only Multi Size no Jutsu- Increases size of a specific body part or the entire body (Akimchi clan only) Meat tank- after using Multi Size no Jutsu the shinobi becomes a venerable avalanche of flesh. Gedoukuzai no jutsu- Used by the Mitarashi clan, this jutsu analyzes any poison inhabiting them and creates an antidote. D: Equipment Since armor limits a shinobi's movement few use any armor other than there Genin Headband, which many ninja wear elsewhere on ther body. Placement of the headband is important as it can stop all shuriken and kunai from impaling that spot. The most obvious place is to wrap it so that the metal covers your forehead. Kunai and shuriken- these each require 1 stamina to weild. Though kunai can be used to block attacks or in close range taijutsu they are mostly used as throwing knives. Ninjato- the basic ninja sword, few shinobi opt to weild swords since they prevent the ninja from making the appropriate seals to use any nin or gen jutsu. requires 5 stamina to carry/weild. |
III. Combat (type 1 and 2)
Type 1 is the basic, I attack enemy. DM rolls dice and sees results. Most offensive ninjutsu works well this way. Type 2 requires free form righting and is much more useful for taijutsu and genjutsu users than type 1. Still dice are rolled, but the DM analyzes the weaknesses in the shinobi's attack and allows the opponent to counter if able. However, if the shinobi can analyze their opponents weakness and exploit it, be it position, sensitivity, or current trajectory, the bonuses shall match. Example: "DM's post: Jikkouchuu turned the corner and viewed the hall. Before him lay a guard, completely armored except for the eye slits in his samurai mask, brandishing a sword that glimmered due to the light emmitted from the nearby fireplace. Beside the guard lay a large jug marked "sake". Above the to the left of the guard is a large fish tank in which the mansion's occupants were floating lifeless and pale. The guard, alerted to Jikkouchuu's presence, called for reinforcements. Jikkouchuu's post: Jikkouchuu flew into action. Using his speed Jikkouchuu moved next to the tank and flipped it, towards the guard. Then before the guard could react he aimed a shuriken for the guards eyes. DM post: The water spread from the tank and swept the guard off his feet. The water surged towards the fireplace and extinguished all light in the hall." The DM's response is calculated thusly: the DM checked the guards awareness against Jikkouchuu's speed. The guard happened to be drunk, so his awareness was 1. Jikk's speed was 20 times that of the guard's awareness so if the DM rolled between a 2 and a 18 the fire would be extinguished. The DM rolled a 20 (critical hit) so the additional bonus of knocking the guard off his feet was added. An additional check against Jikk's taijutsu score of 5 and the guard's armor score of 25 showed that Jikk would need a 20 to kill the guard with a shuriken. Jikk recieved a 7 so the shuriken failed. Although the poster failed to kill the guard, he took the guard out of the fight for at least two turns and gave himself a stealth advantage over the reinforcements. Clan Name: Hyuga Appearance: 5'4" Short black hair that ends above his ears, Byakugan eyes, Headband is around his forehead, wears a black vest and white cloth pants, the toeless konoha boots. Bio: Shinpai is disliked. He deserves it. Shin is suspicious of everyone: his "friends," his teachers, his family. He may be scitzophrenic, but he wouldn't admit it. That'd be showing weakness, and he can't show weakness in front of his enemies. He can function fairly normally thanks to his 360 degree sight, but having a conversation with him is very difficult. Clan Name:Mitarashi Appearance: Combed back long black hair down the the neck. Black eyes and pale skin. Sithis wears a brown vest with various compartments and straps to hold the poisons famous to his clan. Bio:Sithis is like a Snake. He is always cool, calm and composed. If wronged Sithis strikes back but then like a snake he no longer holds grudges. Phil_Mike, Byakugan would be ranked as a level 2 and Jyuken is also level 2, so either henge or bushin must go. And here's your stats:

Sorry about that. It was adding up to ten in my head because I'm dumb. Could you please explain the statistical significance of the chakra pool? I just want to know how much that 5 is gonna screw me over. :p Also, could you tell me how much each technique will cost?
