StarTrek

I was wondering what the people here think about Startrek?
I dont mind watching it every once in a while but not as much as some of my friends, it can get some what too much for me if you know what I mean. I have some friends that watch it much more than I and enjoy it, some of its cool, some of it can run what I have left of my mind away from it.

So I just wanted to know your opinions on it and what you like.
Please dont talk crap about it, we dont need it here or any where for that matter.

I have to say that Star Trek in general is ok. There are many Star Treks though. The original, though the effects are outdated, was one of the clasics of our time. ST:TNG was less ass kicking and more philosophical, but still very good. Then it started going down hill. Voyager was flat. The plot never changed, the characters were rediculous, and some of the aliens were actualy copies from other series, not counting the Borg. DS9 was better and had a war in it, but there was still that problem with character development. Now Enterprise is on the air, and i'm not realy engoying it as much as some of the others. Star Trek started cool, but it's going down hill.

I heard (on slashdot I think) that they are going to have Riker and Troi guest star on Enterprise. I groan just thinking of the convoluted story they will have to come up with to explain that.

I thought DS-9 was the last good star trek. Voyager just got crappier and crappier. And after having watched Babylon-5, I must say, the bar is now set too high for any Star Trek series to reach.

Yeah its is going down hill but the first stuuf was good while it lasted.
Never saw much of DS9, and I kinda liked Voyager, I think some of the characters were ok.

Like I always say in Voyager's defence (the only thing I can say): it had Robert Picardo, of Johnny Cab fame, as The Doctor.

Viper Daimao 01-27-2005 10:31 PM

I did enjoy robert picardo. probably my favorite character. other than jeri ryan, but thats for completely different reasons.

Yeah that would be true, I liked Nilix some times though, and Tuvok.
But the capitain got on my nerves somtimes, not shure why.

Wait, it's the characters Riker and Troi? Not just the actors (kinda like they did with Brent Spiner)? If they have to rely on nostalgia to get ratings, maybe they should just let the dying franchise kick the bucket with what remains of its tattered dignity.

Well, I've only seen two series. Voyager and Deep Space 9, and from these two I liked Voyager more. It was more adventurous than DS9 seeing as in DS9 you live on a space-station which is staionary in space (duh...). I liked the starship-form better, although the characters were at times a bit dull.

But I found it rather strange that although Seven of Nine intergrated with the crew of Voyager, she never decided to wear the Star Fleet uniform. This would have been much more logical (Tuvok is now speaking ;)) seeing as she was Borg, the epitome of order and unity. Sure, she disconnected from the Hive-mind, but still, she is still very much Borg-like in behaviour as well as logic. But anyway, I've ranted too long again...

Must be because I'm sick, I tend to nag a lot when I'm sick.

And now T'Pol is an official member of Starfleet, but she still doesn't wear a proper Starfleet uniform. She's just got the Enterprise patch on her catsuit now.
